Tolfdir "First Lessons" glitch

I wanted to start the College of Winterhold missions to get the Staff of Magnus, I've played this before and I no problem.

After I've finished the long boring tour Mirabelle gave me I went inside to listen to Tolfdir, and yeah we did something practical. And so I gained the ward spell Tolfdir gave me.

*Main problem*
So I casted the ward spell and Tolfdir casted his Firebolt spell and it successfully hit the ward.
He stands for a few minutes then he repeats a dialogue.
"You have to stay still, otherwise this won't work, I don't want to hit you" or something like that.

I was confused, he successfully hit me but still repeats the dialogues to keep my ward up as well, and so I did the second time.

And few days later (real time) I returned to Skyrim and the bug/glitch was still there. He repeats it over and over again, I've never found a fix for this. He keeps going in a loop saying the same dialogue.

I did not progress through the story since. I have not tried anything yet because if I do it might break my game. So I was hoping that someone could help me?

I did, that's where you were ment to stand in the first place otherwise he won't use the firebolt at you. But it's still buggy.

Like Trigger said, and make sure to keep your ward up until Tolfdir's dialogue progresses.

You will note the target area to stand on is very small. I have trouble with it every single time.

Ok, I found a definitive solution to this problem that actually works. The idea of it I found on the elder scrolls wiki website.

So, basically you have to kill one of the npc's in the Hall of Elements. The best one, because of his lack of importance in the quest line is Onmund. You kill Onmund, get out of the college and run towards a guard. (note that the college npc's will try to kill you!) After you speak with the guard, pay the fine 1k that he will offer and then get back to Tolfdir. He will tell you that the accident was very unfortunate or something like that and the proceed the mission to the ruins of Sarthal without finishing the First Lessons quest (The quest will be finished but without the necessity of him actually firing the Firebolt spell on you).

Man, with a solution like that it's time to unsubscribe. I prefer persistance and finding the exact spot to stand. lol :-)

OMG thank you so much! for some reason wards are not working in my game and this fixed the college quest for me.
