The Forgemasters Fingers
IIRC, I did the quest to achieve the forgemasters fingers to gain access to orc strongholds. I tried finding the quest in my journal under the completed list of quests and to my surprise it's not there. I double-checked everything and I can't still find it. I even tried finding it under my incomplete quests and it's not there as well. I am pretty sure that I have finished the quest already since I can gain entrance to all orc strongholds as well as I don't pose any threat to the orcs inside.

Is this a bug? Is there something I can do to fix this?

Additional information:
  • Whenever I try to get near orc strongholds, none of the orcs try to stop me assuming I am already "blood-kin".
  • I am a Khajiit, just to make the above statement clear.

It seems that not all quests are stored under completed quests. I have noticed several to be missing as well.

For information on this if you look at http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:The_Forgemaster%27s_Fingers should give you details.
It can be that if you help another orc then you have meet the need that the forgefingers were meant to help you become introduced to the orcs.

You can check the status of that quest by opening the console
and typing getstage FavorOrcsIntro enter .... if it says 10 then you collected the fingers if it says cannot find ... it isn't registered in game at all. Whereas if it says it's "20" then you returned the fingers and have completed the quest

I see, well I hope that's the case then. I already went too far in the game to go back to the save where I haven't done the quest yet.

Thanks for the console commands, I'm gonna give them a shot. Though I can recall that The Forgemasters Fingers quest was the first quest I ever did for the orcs. I received the quest the momement I discovered Narzulbur, the first orc stronghold I discovered with my new character.

It is also possible that you have gained the trust by other means. Sometimes helping one of orc characters will spark them to say that they will send a word to strongholds. This means that you have become their friend.

It is not always easy to here, because they do not actually force greet you when saying that. It may not even be a quest that was directly related to orc character, but a quest that greatly benefited one of orc workers.

If you got the mission to detect Forgemaster's Fingers prior of doing such mission, or getting greeted with the orc stronghold message, then you are already friend of the strongholds, while returning back with the item.

After typing in the console command I received the following:

getstage FavorOrcsIntro
GetStage >> 100.00

What does that mean?

When I made my new character, I haven't met any orcs yet until I found Narzulbur, making it the first orc stronghold I discovered and the orc outside, who stopped me, the first orc I met. Upon meeting that orc, it stopped me telling me that I am not blood-kin considering I am a khajiit. Conversation went on until I accepted the quest to get the fingers.

Usually I go to orc camp near Kynsgrove after killing dragon with Delphine. That camp will give you the quest and once completed access to ebony ore early in the game.

Well, I haven't discovered that camp yet so thanks for telling me about it, but, like I've said in my previous post, Narzulbur was the first ever orc stronghold I discovered and the orc that stopped me, the orc that will give you the quest, was the FIRST orc I met in the game.

In other words, I never met any orc and discovered any orc stronghold until Narzulbur.

The forgemaster's fingers is also a misc quest without any actual title in game. Most misc. quests don't show up in completed quests.

Just one hint to remember. Check your map for any cave that you haven't been to, it may be there.

I see. So that means, similar to what Ilja said, that the quest is not stored in the completed quest list making in not visible even though it is already done.

I also tried doing what Eternie said about the console command and it gave me something like:
getstage FavorOrcsIntro
GetStage >> 100.00

If you can, can you tell me what it means?

I know that I already finished the quest since I am welcomed to any orc stronghold so trying to find it in caves is unnecessary. Once again, the forgemasters fingers is the first ever orc-related quest I did. Anyway, if ever I indeed helped another orc to make me blood-kin, then why did the orc in Narzulbur even stopped me and gave me the quest to find the fingers? Assuming from that, The Forgemasters Fingers is the quest that made me blood-kin to the orcs. My problem is that it is not found in my journal.

It looks like the getstage result indicates you've competed the quest. It's a misc quest which generally (possibly always) don't show up in the completed quests part of the journal, I think that's only for quests whose names show up in the sidebar, have multiple stages etc. E.g. "talk to Aventus Aretino" would not show in your completed quests, whereas the quest it leads you to, "Innocence Lost" should, once completed.

I see now. Well, now that you mentioned it, I noticed that the misc quests without any "main" quest to follow is not listed under the completed quest list. Since the forgemasters fingers quest is considered to be a misc quest, it really won't show up in the list.

Thanks for clearing that up for me! It seems that I forgot that the forgemasters fingers quest didn't leave any quest title after accepting it form the orc in Narzulbur (instead left in the misc quests). Thanks again!

And thanks again to the others who answered! All are appreciated.

Find the forgemaster fingers shows up under the misc section, once completed it disapears completely---like craft an iron dagger for Alvor, or clear the bandit camp at Redorans Retreat or whateever. If its not there in the misc section, you've most likely completed it.
