Arvel the swift bug

In the golden claw quest, I need to cut down a elvish thief named Arvel. The problem is that he's either just floating in mid air, or he's just standing there, normally. So I can't cut him down, and I can't complete the quest. Does anyone have a solution?

can you kill him? He has to die anyway. otherwise sounds like a glitch that you may have to go back to a save point before this

No, he's invinsible. I also did go back to an old save. Same result, although he was in a different part of the room.

Did you by chance click the Golden Claw mission in the quest area? Sometimes I'll forget and some of the things won't show up due to it not being checked on the quests list.

If you have mods you need to make sure they are in the correct load order.

Ah thanks, I do have one or two mods, one being no spiders, due to me being a huge arachnophobe. That might have to do with the bug.

Ah yeah, you have to kill the giant spider before you can free the bandit

I have discovered a way to fix this first open the console and click on arvel then type disable then that will remove him from your game next type in help arvel then it will show you 2 command id's do player.placeatme (the command on the bottom) then it will spawn in an arvel and u can kill him

Gonna bump this, still isn't working when it's the load order and such, i disabled all mods and it still didn't work, i also done the disable option in the console but it also didn't work

For me, I just hit esc and hung out at the menu for a bit. Didn't go anywhere, didn't load or save, but two or so minutes later, I exited the menu and he dropped down.

I know its been a long time since this was posted, but has anyone figured out a fix? I also have sever arachnophobia and really don't want to disable the mod if I can avoid it. I've tried the following commands with no results: disabling then enabling. 'recycleactor", and 'kill'. Looting him through commands doesn't work either. He just keeps asking me to cut him down even though there are no cobwebs to be seen
