I did, I gave my user every single permission, I apply administrator permission. Then it rpeeats "you need permission to open this file" etc.
I'll use the Take Ownership app thingy then, thanks! :)

You opened a can of worms, Lucy. An OS re-install, (low-level format is always a good idea on wonky consumer grade hard drives to re-map.. manufacturer's s/w to return drive to "factory condition" is best practice before a re-install) is in your future.
I didn't take ownership of the whole drive, just half the files in it. Either way, you aren't helping much, have you got any information on how to fix the main problem or?

I don't think taking ownership of files in a drive is harming anything, either way, it still has the option to take ownership for files I already used it on.
So it probably didn't work anyways, happy days, now I don't have to worry about your doomsaying.
