Battlemage or pure mage?
So, I can't decide if I should play Battlemage with sword and heavy armor using magic, or as pure mage, my race is dark elf. I like both, but I would ask which one you guys prefer, and think is more fun to play.
Also could you tell me what perk tree should I focuse with Battlemage or a mage?

This is a personal choice, based on your preference. I enjoy more pure mage as battlemage can become a bit boring in the long run.

The choice is pretty obvious... I mean, unless you want to be a dirty Mudblood... :badbarrett:

JK, I prefer Battlemage personally, with Heavy Armor because I like the way it looks.

Perks... Go with yer gut. As weird as it may seem to do so as a mage, just read the perks you have available, consider what magic you use and how you'd like to use it, and proceed from there each Level-Up. That's my advice, and I'm stickin' to it.

I've found battlemage to be much more effective, but if you have magic mods you should go with the pure mage.

hmm.... I'm leaning more to Battlemage as I do like sword kill moves, but I also adore magic.
My ultimate goal is to become a Vampire lord *evil laugh* if that makes any diffrence

Then be a pure battlemage, and use destruction plus conjuration (bound sword).

I do like idea of a badass wearing deadric armor while summoning himself a deadric sword and casting spells.
I guess focusing destr, conjur, heavy armor, enchanting and smithing trees is what I will do
Thanks for answers, they help more than you think!

Pure mage. Battlemage is just a mage who can't make up his mind. If you gotta use weapons, then conjure your own.

I've just played 100+ hours on a pure mage, and now, I just NEED to make a battlemage, because I'm sick and tired of going all "pew pew pew" on mobs. I like magic, especially with Apocalypse spells, but in the end, you just end up using 1/2 spells to do damage, and either you die in one arrow, or you burn the whole hold to the ground.

I was thinking a mage with heavy armor who focuses on conjuring a sword and using magic! :P

to play as a mage you need to use summons as you always end up killing followers with aoe spells.... summons are pretty op actually and can kill everything for you on their own.

as a mage id go enchanting asap to enchant some stuff with reduce mana cost and get the astronoch sign as it fills ur mana up.

battle mage spreads you thin and ends up boring use armor spells for armor and weapon spells for weapons

I'm having a ton of fun playing a "pyro knight" right now, which is a battlemage that only specializes in fire magick from all fields of magick (i.e. only fire destruction, only flame atronachs, no alteration, only fire enchants). I'm using one handed and light armor for the speed benefit, but I'm thinking I probably should have gone with heavy armor since I'm using a sword in one hand and spells in the other, I have no real defense aside from my armor.

cast mage armor and pretend its fire based lol.. molten skin

i pref playing ranged as a wizard and use staffs along with spells.

I'm playing as a traveling merchant/collecter who is trying to look as innocent as possible, so using magic because it's easy to conceal. Bound sword looks to clunky on her since she's only in a dress, and bound dagger isn't affected by Invested Magic (since bound dagger is from dragonborn dlc), so bound bow ftw. Plus the casting animation is pretty nice. Throw in mage armor spells for defense (great with Invested Magic and why I have it). Using a follower for roleplaying purposes (my bodyguard), my epic pet fox Jorin (BFF Animal Companions), and riekling pack mule. Also have an extra follower to run my market stall in Whiterun.

As battlemage (also called spellblade) with heavy armor, enchanting and smithing, you can become muuuuch, muuuuch stronger than any pure mage could because a good enchanted sword is stronger than any spell and with 100 in enchanting you can make armor which makes ressurection AND destruction for free, making you to an invincible badass, which I would't recommend because it gets boring quite fast.

But I still recommend blattlemage.

You can do the same enchanting on normal clothes though, right?
