Moving Skyrim to a new drive on my PC

I would like to move my Skyrim data folder and all of the mods i have to a different hard drive on my pc. the reason for this is that it is on ther same drive as my OS and i dont have enough room to update windows (Noob mistake). Any and all help is greatly apreciated!

Thank You,

Copy the load order. Always do that.

Nexus mod manager is also in my OS drive. do i need to relocate that too? now that i think about it, i dont care if the saves stay where they are.

It will be in users / *your username here * / appdata / local / skyrim /

There should be 3 files in there..... DLCList, plugins, and SteamModList.

Plugins in your load order.

P.S. The appdata folder is hidden by default, you'll have to manually type it in, or turn on hidden folders.

You could also use the Nexus Mod Manager, export the load order to the other drive, then import it from the other drive with the tool.

So basically, copy skyrim to your new folder right, then go to steam and tell it to delete the local content (it will only delete the one on your OS drive) now tell skyrim to reinstall, but select the steam library that you made on your other drive, it will act like its installing, but then it will say "calculating folders of skyrim" or something like that. I've done this before and it should just work like that.

ok that was pretty strait forward. got it to launch. i did how ever, uninstal my mods. now, do i need to change anything with Nexus Mod Manager, before re-installing my mods?

No, you should just be able to plug the mods in, in the same exact load order, and it should just be like before.

ok thanks for all the help everyone
btw I know how to move a steam game to another drive/folder, but is it just the same if I move skyrim + mod organizer? or should I make some tweaks with the MO?

An old discussion got into my notifications!

Mod Organizer is movable, however it may prompt you for program shortcuts (especially if you moved the Skyrim folder).
