the night mother or astrid?

Ive always wondered what other people thought wether they sided with astrid (like most of the sanctuary) or the night mother (like cicero). becase obviosly the game wants you to choose do to the dialog options really there is no midle ground beside remaning silent.

I would personally just slaughter them all but when I do play a DB inclinced character I more or less always go with Dark Mummy over Astrid. The game more or less pushes you with the former anyway but lack of freedom from fate seems pretty much on par with the DB's beliefs of the Void.

actually i sided with the night mother because it was the most amusing to me. and then you even get to kill cicero too! I just hated enough of the people in the sanctuary and realized when they were taking sides that I'd get a chance to kill them all. heh heh.

Theres plenty of places in the game where you're railroaded into doing something or choosing a side whether you like it or not. Every game runs on rails but there are times when its very obvious.

I sided with astrid because first I read that the only real benifet and change is that cicero can become a follower but there are already so many followers that i didnt really care. Also from what I gathered the old ways were more evil. it sounded like the night mother was more of a dictator and astrid a leader. plus i hated cicero i think we can all agree on that. just realized this reply is 3 years later my bad

Its never to late to have a conversation I always sided with the night mother because the dark brotherhood without her is just a group of murderers but with the night mother its an actual cult it just felt right.

I mean, after you're named Listener, some people get salty about it, like Arnbjorn. True colors and all that help me prefer the Night Mother. Didn't even have sympathy for them like the Cheydinhal sect. Cicero is a true dark brother, like him or not. Nazir is meh, and although Babette always has a special place in my pants heart, to side with Astrid is to invoke the wrath of Sithis.
