Elk Hide - Finding/Hunting

Deer are plentiful, but I've found ELK hard to find in the field. I need elk hide for some special craftable items. Have not found it listed in Console code lists I've found. Anyone know of areas which are good for hunting elk? Or the console code for elk hide?

outside of riften is actually quite good for elk at least on my game....

Hvae eyou conisdered Skytest I have that I know it adds many elk herds outside of Whiterun.

Do you have the Unofficial skyrim patch? Apparently there were 2 varieties of deer hide in vanilla Skyrim, both called deer hide. The first variety, a deer with large broad antlers was changed to Elk hide to prevent confusion. Looks more like moose antlers than deers.

Yes, moose-like wide antlers. So I have now learned. Shot about 6 in an hour south of the lake near Ivarstad. Now my stealth is better, they don't run so quick from me. Now I can make the Remodeled Forsworn Armor! Remodeled Armor CBBEv3M by MAK
