CTD when entering The Ratway
I really hate to add to the number of posts begging for help about a crash, but I'm completely stumped here. I'm currently trying to get back to Brynjolf so I can complete the quest where you have to get money from 3 people, but every time I try to enter the Ratway, I get a CTD.

So far I've tried: Running LOOT, using Savetool, using Wyre Bash to check for missing dependencies/load order errors, uninstalling mods I don't use, reverting back to an earlier save, teleporting via console commands, and doing a backflip through a flaming hoop while playing chess with a ninja. I really don't know what to do. I'm running around 45 - 50 mods currently, but none of them effect the Thieves Guild quest line.

Dont worry about it. Many of us hang around and are here specificallly too help so no problem :)

As far as your issue, lets try a couple of other things... I wanna a video of that backflip trick though :P

Do you have any experiance at all using tes5edit? If so have a look and see if anything edits the ragged flagon cell. If not, let me know and I'll provide a written guide on how to check that.

Have you checked to see if you have that problem on a vanilla game, or on a new game? Just want to check if its either a problem with the vanilla files, or if its a problem with the save (some bugs can get baked into saves before you ever actually see them for the first time so they can go back quite a few saves)

I'll get right on the video. :p And I'm not very experienced with Tes5Edit. I've used it a little bit. I'm going to go back to an OLD save and see if I can get in there without a CTD.

Alrighty then. Quick Tes5edit tutorial incoming.

Open up Tes5edit and just hit okay so that it loads all of your active mods in their load order.
Wait for the background loader to finish and then expand Skyrim.esm
Expand the CELL section, and then expand BLOCK 5, SUB-BLOCK 3 and click on the RiftenRaggedFlagon
In the right pane it should come up with a few columns and along the top it titles those columns with any mod that adds data into that area

(You can also do it by searching for the formID of 00016bcf but you can use those navigation skills from the above method for tes5edit to diagnose other conflicts in the future so its a good skill to have, unless you just want to take the shortcut XD )

Well, I loaded an older save (WAY older), and Skyrim locked up completely right outside of the Riften gate. This is really odd... TES5Edit is loading now, thanks for the explanation.

I have two lighting overhaul mods, and a realistic water mod that edit the cell. Should I disable them? I haven't had problems in the past with them.

No, that should be fine. That would be about what I would expect in a standard load order. Unoffical patches, lighting, water and maybe some mesh replacers should all be fine when they edit cells.
If your old save is bugging out that makes me suspect that it might be a bug that is baked into the save. Try starting a name game with the same mods and see what happens and if you can try a vanilla game and see what happens when you try and go to that area.

I just solved the mystery. It was a follower mod. Inigo, to be more specific. I didn't realize he was following me until this last time when I loaded my save and saw him. After dismissing him, I could enter the Ratway again. What the hell? I feel stupid now.

Anyway, thanks for the help, and for slightly increasing my TES5Edit knowledge. :)

Thats.... very odd. Might be worth posting your load order to pastebin and then posting a detailed description of your problem over on the comments on INIGOs nexus page. The dev is pretty helpful and pretty active so they might be able to provide more support. (Im still waiting on the next version of him to come out so I can give him a shot myself)

Hello. I cam across this issue yesterday. I ran TES5Edit, navigated to
[00] Skyrim.esm \ Cell \ Block 5 \ Sub-Block 3 \ 00016BCF <RiftenRaggedFlagon>

I found a conflict loser there called: XEZN - Encounter Zone.

The older 2.1 version of Inigo had problems. Make sure your Inigo is up to date.

For the ratway crash, i removed the mod "Outdated - HD Textures DLC Fix" and it worked. also try the command "coc RiftenRatway02" wich will tp you where esbern was hidden, i found that this place didnt make my game CTD. I think that the ratway has issues with modded textures and this mod but i'm not sure
