Don't want to be a werewolf ??? - answered
Hi

I was doing the companion quests today and I reach the quest where I have to meet someone under the Skyforge in Whiterun.
He told me I have to become a werewolf in the next quest. ???

Now without giving any spoilers .... is this a permenant change?
I'm trying to play nice in this first playthrough (pickpocket=17,Bounty =5 in 250 hrs play) so I'll avoid the quest if I have too.

I came on here to avoid the possibility of reading too much on online guides ... hope you understand.

No. You can refuse to become a werewolf or not. There is another quest where you find a cure to reverse being a werewolf.

You get the option to cure yourself. You probably know when If it isn't clear we get you some hints .... Well you can refuse however the companions quest is pointless without.

A werewolf has it's advantage when a vapmire scratches you it does not work because you are a werewolf. You only call on the power when you want it and it can be cured easily later in the game.

Lord Harkon is the only one that I know of that can change you into a vampire. And you want to say no the first playthrough. Later on you might want to be a vampire but those choices plus a neverending game make Skyrim the best game I have ever seen. The older Elder Scrolls games and the old Might and Magics 3 -8 are the best old games I have ever seen. Beware though the old might and magics are dated graphically just as the old Elder Scrolls are,

There is a site you can get all of the old Might and Magics. I only wish Steam offered them.

Other ways:
Serana can also turn you into a vampire lord. Also, getting hit by vampires can infect you with the vampirism disease which will turn you into a regular vampire if not treated within three days.

I admit I don't like the idea that the only option to advance the Companions questline is to become a werewolf. I mean, in Oblivion, you don't *have* to become a vampire to advance the Dark Brotherhood. You can, but it's optional. However, I do like being a werewolf. There's just something so satisfying about mauling your enemies. Heck, I've even sent giants airborne with my attacks.

EDIT: For the record, I have never become a vampire, whether during the DB questline or at any other time in any TES game.
