All the housecarls are warrior already! You can resurrect NPC's using the console command resurrect with the NPC's id in the window. There's also a mod that makes all followers "essential" and other NPCs too.

I'd avoid using the console command if possible (reload to a save before you killed her and play again - and yep, I'm afraid it's almos certain you killed her because they're flagged 'protected' while your active follower, meaning only you or occasionally poison/bleeding damage can kill them) because it can cause problems with AI and inventory - it's not so bad with followers, but definitely don't do it for NPCs like merchants, quest givers etc (it will not un-fail quests failed because the quest giver died, for a start).

Much appreciated, looks like I'm the bad guy then ?

Fraid so, if it makes you feel any better, one of my characters' dog died yesterday from jumping in front of a fireball I threw :( (For some reason I feel guiltier about a doggy dying than a trained fighter...) If you use any follower mods like AFT, EFF etc they usually either default to followers being essential, or let you make them essential (means nothing can kill them other than maybe a console command). I suppose really it removes some of the challenge if your followers are immortal, but frankly the AI isn't good enough for them not to run in front of my sword or whatever, so I rarely play with not-essential followers (the dog is MEANT to be essential, but for some reason the mod I use for that isn't working.)

Dogs - what's to be said - lol. I cheat and make mine essential because they seem to have a hit box the size of a mammoth and I'm forever shooting the damned things with my bow. I like the company and they're useless in a fight anyway - max level 25? and no armor. Poor doggy :-)

So do I, but like I say, the mod's obviously not working. Sad times :(

The essential flag is saved in your game so, e.g. for Meeko - setessential d95e9 1 works :-)

another solution i use, theres a ressurrection Spell mod in the workshop. It works fine for me, if i kill lydia again with FUS-DO-RAH or an astray arrow that hits her instead of the enemy. you can revive Quest givers and random NPC as well as enemys (couse i revive dungeon boss and fight him again just for fun xD) The only thing to remeber is that they respawn with the random NPC inventory, meaning i have to craft a new Dragon armor for lydia everytime she dies...
