SKSE.exe Missing/Bug Error
Hello.
So i've recently run into an error when starting up Skyrim with SKSE.
Unfortunetly for me, for whatever reason the exe. file for SKSE has disseapeared outside of my Skyrim Directory folder, and upon reinstalling SKSE i am unable to place it back in the directory folder for reasons unknown.

When i attempt to either copy/paste or extract the exe. file, i get the following message

"- Error Opening File For Writing:
C:/Program Files
(x86)/Steam/Steamapps/common/Skyrim/skseloader.exe

Click abort or stop the installation.
Retry or try again, or ignore to skip this file."

I have tried the following solutions to no result
- Checking Game Cache
- Reinstalling Skyrim
- Reinstalling SkSe
- Gain complete adminstritive rights to the Skyrim Folder (Same issue, i "don't have permission regardless").
- Attempt to put SKSE into my NMM and play it through that. Doesn't work still.

I've recently been fiddling around with ENBs, and also recently installed Mod Organiser.
It could be possible it is one of these isuses, but again i'm unsure how to proceed.

Also it is not in reference to any of my installed mods, so please, don't suggest that haha.

Thanks in advance,
Ragun.

Maybe Mod Organizer (or something else) messed up the permissions of the files/folder...? Try logging into your computer as an Administrator, moving the entire Skyrim folder somewhere else (just in case you need it later), then installing Skyrim from scratch via Steam and see how that works.

Unfortunetly this doesn't seem to work.
However, upon moving my Skyrim folder out of Steam, i was able to put the SKSE file into the directory, and run SKSE through that.
However, as a result i wasn't able to open mod manager and install mods.
Therefore i'll have to keep moving the folder too and from the Steam commons folder in order to play/install mods, as i don't know what's causing the SKSE.exe file too not be allowed access into Steam

SKSE programs are in the top file.

C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\SteamApps\common\Skyrim

There should be the following skse_* files if you have the version I have:

readme.txt
whatsnew.txt
loader.exe
steam_loader.dll
_1_9_32.dll

Does this help.

By the way...there is no need for the 2nd post to quote the 1st post, that's just weird and not needed.

@Mickydickybob

I have the following files inside my Skyrim directory folder related to SKSE;

readme.txt
whatsnew.txt
steam_loader.dll
skse_docs
skse_papyrus_docs
skse__1_9_32.dll

Unfortunetly the loader.exe (which i understand is missing) cannot be placed inside the Skyrim Directory folder, unless the Skyrim folder itself is not in the Steam/Steamaps/Common section.
I have no idea why it isn't allowing me to place/copy/extract the loader.exe folder into the directory, and even though i'm administrator on the computer it still will not allow me to place it in there, despite trying multiple different methods to overcome this issue.

The above problem is in conjunction with what my original post states, regarding the error message that pops up when i attempt to extract the file there.

It can to be placed and run from there.
Move your entire Steam directory away from program files or any other windows folder.

EDIT>>> I'm not telling you how to do it but rather how it should be done. <<<EDIT

C/Games/WTFever is a good place to install things.
Never install any program you intend to use inside of program files.
Program files is bad dookie.

Here is an example.
C/Games/Steam
C/Games/Modorganizer
C/Games/NexusModManager <<< If you prefer.

This causes no bad dookie C/Windows/programfiles/Bad dookie.

So anywhere outside program files?
Okay, thats great. But as i stated, NMM is unable to locate the directory (as its in a new location).
Will i have to reinstall NMM and set the new location of the Skyrim folder in order for it too work?

On another note, if i were to move it out of the default directory and place it back (If i can't access NMM), then apparently i have to reinstall it again, despite it being back where it was.
Sigh.
Massive pain.
Just wish there was a solution to this whole SKSE.exe file not being allowed in my Skyrim Directory folder.

Outside of Any Windows folder which leaves you with one possibility.
C:/CreateFolderHere/WhateverYouInstallHere/HoweverYouWantTo but not inside of Windows unless you enjoy being told by windows that you aren't allowed to install what you want on your machine.

You very well may have to reinstall a lot of things. Like I said, I'm not getting into the how you fix the mess, I'm just telling you what the solution is to the mess.

Thanks for the solution.
Hopefully someone will come along with an actual fix to said issue, but if not i'll keep at this.

It is the only way to easily resolve permissions issues.
Stay out of windows folders and windows will stay out of your business.
