There are other ways to legitimately level your speech. Buying and selling. The higher the price the more experience, but it's easiest to just not sell in bulk. Selling one arrow at a time is grindy, but it does work slowly but surely. Another way is to find the speech trainers (hint, look in the Bard's College). Or get yourself arrested for petty crimes, then persuade the guard to let you go. Etc.
All you need is Masque of Clavicus Vile and/or an Amulet of Dibella. Wear them pass the challenges and level up your speechcraft.
Maybe I should rephrase the question to *Is there any way to play the game without the patches?* That way people wouldnt be compelled to tell me how I should play a single-player offline game.
So Ill ask instead: Is there a way to play the game without patch 1.9? Or a mod that can undo that one fix?
I don't think there's a mod that adds the glitch back to Ungrien, but there are various mods that let you level speech more quickly, on the Workshop there's Perkless Speech which puts a book somewhere in the world (probably Riverwood, that's where the lockpicking one lives) which sets your Speech to 100 and unlocks all perks. There's also, if you don't want all the perks or want something less cheat-y, Become a Bard which lets you perform in taverns to earn a few septims and every two or three performances you get a speech skill point (I think it's about that, probably slows down as your skill increases).
On the Nexus there's a few mods that immediately set your speech to 100, without the perks, AFAICT they're just a little script that does the same as using the console to set your skill level. There's also one that increases how quickly you level speech, so you still have to do the normal speechy things, but it'll level you either a bit quicker, or up to 100x quicker. If you google "skyrim speech leveling mod" you'll probably get some results.
