However, there are mods that make enemies more deadly, with new abilities (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/40491/) and mods that make dungeons way darker (http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/17802/?).
There are also plenty of mods that add quests with jumpscares and scary elements, though I bet that is not what you are looking for.

If you can use an ENB:

It makes dungeons darker:

UPDATE:
I don't know if it really adds to the horror-atmosphere, but you could use 'Deadly mutilation'

More creatures, possibly more scary:

I might look later for more.
a problem that i could face with darker dungeons is being unable to notice certain puzzle elements, no?
and yea im not looking for jumpscares and i tend to avoid custom questlines because most of them seem unappealing to the lore, then again if there are some really good ones then they should be linked here.
Again, sorry for the off-topic question. It's been like this for months now.
Though I haven't searched, I'm pretty sure on Nexus must be a mod that makes the damage dealt on higher difficulty the same as on Adept, while receiving double, triple damage and so on..
Torches and Magelight are your only friends if using Climates of Tamriel with Hardcore Dungeons Lighting, so if you think you don't like it, then skip it.
As for the quests, yes, mostly are poor, 2-3 jumpscares at the end and that's all, though here is a quest (40% horror imo) that I enjoyed a lot, had a really creepy atmosphere and doesn't have jumpscares: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/23087/?

And possibly this too, it overhauls all the default music. Not sure if it's really scarier though.

Also, this mutes the music, leaving only the ambient sounds. Combined with scarier sounds this will sound very creepy.

Do not know about the conflicts, you'll have to read and compare your list.
There's a whole website devoted to the mod and a vid review by Brodual:

As for a new game, it just says it is recomended. Maybe ask in their Nexus forum?
Cheers :)
