SKSE and SkyUI Problems! [SOLVED]
I have decided to try out skyrim again with mods, I have modded skyrim very much before I upgraded to my new PC so I know how to do so but I have ran into a small problem, Skse and SkyUI are not working. When I start up my game I get a error message from SkyUI that says that my Skse is not running, I know this is not the case because if I type in the console "getskseversion" then it tells me I am running Skse version 1.7.1 . If someone could please tell me what could be causing this. I would be very grateful and I would like to get back to Tamriel soon!

Are you launching it from steam or the skse launcher?

Just checked, it says version is 1.7.1, but loads version 1.7.2

yea but are you running the game from the launcher as in front steamlauncher or from the skse_launcher

I am running the game from the skse launcher not the steam launcher

That's strange.
Are they installed correctly? Maybe some files are missing. (but it's a shot in the dark.)

- While SkyUI requires SKSE, it is not SKSE plugin as such. It uses Elder Scrolls Plugin file. This means that load order comes to play.

The problem you are describing is usually not happening because of poor order, but there are rare cases where overwriting scripts have made SkyUI unable to properly detect SKSE. To fix this problem, make sure that your load order is set by LOOT.

LOOT

- Make sure that you have Steam open and active, before using SKSE launcher. Otherwise Steam will launch the game without SKSE. Otherwise scripts are not properly included to your game.

- If neither was your problem, then either SKSE or SkyUI was not installed properly, or something is wrong with their files. Reinstall SkyUI and SKSE. See Gophers (a bit old, but still valid) video about SKSE installation, if you are unsure about doing it correctly.

If you need any help, then ask.

Thank you llja! I reinstalled SkyUI and SKSE. My problem was that I did not include the SKSE scripts "facepalm". I just made a archive and named it SKSE scripts then loaded it with ncm and it worked! Thank you man I love you! no ♥♥♥♥

WoW my SKSE works differently, i can start up my pc and once it's warmed up i can start Skyrim by just clicking on my SKSE icon on my bottom tool bar and i'm into the game with steam and nexus mods working, and never once touching Steam - but it is running throught Steam as my hours of play change.

Are you sure that Steam is not set to automatically start with Windows?
Steam > Settings > Interface > Run Steam when my computer starts

{Solved}

It looks like everyone here don't actually know how they solved their problem. Because of that, the issue will come back to hunt you guys for sure.

I first got this issue through a guide: i had to overwrite my skyrim.ini's with an optimized preset to make my game run at 60 fps.

Well, come to find out that those 2 skyrim.ini presets had something disabled in them which actually prevents me from using sky ui or skse correctly.

I forgot what it was in the ini, but i know i always back-up my ♥♥♥♥. So reverting to the old ini files was the fix for me.

Conversation was from 2015. I believe that everyone has moved to manage their FPS through applications or ENB binaries since then.

I have no idea why anyone would overwrite Skryim.ini file with any other INI-file anyway. Each computer is unique, so tweaks are unique as well. I believe that you would have gotten better result by visiting STEP forums and edited your settings manually, as per their explanations.

You might want to try that, if you encounter more problems with FPS. :)

I think what you refer to is Error Code 4. I do not see that error code in this thread. That would pointed to invalid Papyrus fixes in INI-files, which had potential to cause the problem.

I don't recall any other vanilla INI-tweak causing issues with SKSE. I might be forgetting something, but none of my notes or quick search didn't bring up any cases.

Can I get some help if anyone will still respond?

I am currently trying to do mods but this is my first time, it was all working fine a couple of days ago but now whenever I try to play it says the same thing, I've tried running it though SKSE loader and it's fine, but then I have no mods on it, does anyone know how to fix this? I'm kinda dumb so I need some help here haha

I'm having the same problem, but I'm not seeing how it was fixed. I have SKSE installed via Steam, and I typically launch Skyrim from the desktop icon or from Nexus Mod Manager. The problem that I'm having is that SkyUI won't even install from NMM. It's downloaded and is in my mod list, but when I try to install it, it gives me an error dialogue and tells me that "An exception has occurred in the script". Before I got that dialogue, it gave me another error telling me that SKSE was not installed. I uninstalled and reinstalled SKSE, but I still have the same problem. So never mind about the whole load order thing, I can't even get SkyUI to install and actually HAVE a place in the load order.
