There is a quest later on to find the Grey Mayne's son so cozy up to the Battle Born's for that reason, The Grey-Maynes are probably the best of the two. Yourland runs the Skyforge and the rest of the family except Olphina are friends of the Dragonborn regardless.

I play both Imperial and Stormcloak, sometimes I never even do the civil war, but I always, always, side with Greymane over Buttholeborn.

I tried both imperial and stormcloak on 2 different playthroughs, I prefer the Imperials out of the 2

Stormcloaks are racist. Empire is weak. Grey-Mane are respective people. Battle-Born are idiots. Listen to this:

When you first enter Whiterun, Idolaf Battle-Born will be talking with Adrianne. He will say that he would rather lick Ulfric Stormcloak boots than speak with Eorlund. The ♥♥♥♥? He will rather lick the man he hates the most, than his old friend who sided with Ulfric? To me, it makes no sense.

Not trying to justify it, but I think he sees Eorlund as having betrayed their decades of friendship (and it's quite possibly reciprocal). That's a personal, painful thing. (And I'm sure he's being hyperbolic, he's not actually about to go up to the Palace of Kings and ask if Ulfric needs his boots cleaning!)

Gray-Mane, obviously. Stormcloaks aren't racist, and the Battle-Borns openly harass a feeble old woman in the streets by calling her names, mockingly saying her son is a prisoner in their own house or even dead, and withholding information on his whereabouts from his family.

I just wanna stay out of it ... really I like John and Lars ... the rest are idiots. I am pro Empire however some people make it VERY hard to like them (some battle-borns and Maven, etc)

I use "Beautiful Whiterun" on Nexus. I also have a lots of mods for textures.

About the debate, have you notice that the Thalmor are speaking to General Tullius when you start a new game?...what do you think they talk about?

Hard necroing this, but if the first thing I have happen in Whiterun is some guy runs up, asks whose side I'm on (with no real insight as to what he's asking) and after saying one thing over the other acts like he's going to fight me for it, I know I probably made the right choice. Gray-Mane over Battle-Born if they're gonna act like that.
