"E" [Activate] key doesn't work on some items
I can't really give much more explanation. I can remember it not working on the door to the jarls house in Markarth and the book in the battle-born house needed for the Quest to get Thorald back. Also random bodies wont let me loot them etc.. The prompt to press 'E' comes up but nothing happens.

Try this - Go to you key controls and set everything back to default and the key should work again. Whats probably happened is you've changed the 'E' key at some point or a key connected to the E key and it bugged out. Its very tempremental to key changes especially E, R to drop etc. Some keys are fine to change but some can cause the keys not to work even if you change them back to what they were.

It' didn't work. Also i forgot to add tat i can pick up objects and wave them about by holding 'E' just not pick them up into my inventory, or open/read them.

Open console click on your character then type "TAI" does it fix it?

I could be "TCAI" I forgot... try reload a older save or somthing.

Ive reloaded the save several times :( I'm broadcasting if you want to see whats going on

The TAI command usually fixes stuff like cannot use interact. You sure it did not fix it?

I'm pressing 'E;E on the book and these ingots but nothing happening

I turned all ai proccessiong off and all combat processing off but it still wont pick up the book i need for thid bloody quest

Theses commands are toggle commands turn them back on if it does not fix it do you have mods installed? Or the offical patchs?

I have far too many mod's. I think i have the official patches, not sure though.

My mistake, its "Player.tai"... If you can still use arcane enchanter and all that stuff. Its most likely a mod.

I can still use the arcane enchanter at dragonsreach, but the objecs a can/'t use are completely random
