Thane of Solitude never ending struggle. Solved!!!

So i've become thane of solitude atleast 20 times in my many play throughs, ocassionally i would get a bug where elisif couldn't open her mouth to say hey would you like to be thane.

It was usually fixed by manually starting the quest, aka startquest favor252.

So in my previous play through i attempted to start the quest and nothing happens, i also did setstage favor252 0 as well as 10.

The problem is kind of slapping me in the face, with the elisif tribute. After you talk to elisif your suppose to get that Jarl can i sleep with you to become thane dialogue thingy. So then i saw that the elisif tribute isn't on my list of completed quests even though it's clearly completed.

I'm going to answer the trails of usual questions before there started.

Dude that cried wolf complete check

Elisif Tribute Complete check

House purchased and fully upgraded check even though it's not required check.

setrelationshiprank 14 3 check

removed all scripts and disabled all plugins to test the dialogue check.

This is a brand new install of Skyrim, so yea that gets rid of the people that say reinstall Skyrim.
(Kind of reminds me of ISP's and the clear your cookies routine, it's annoying lol)

I also tested unofficial Skyrims patch the other day even though i do not use it as it breaks more then it fixes. Check (same deal)

I know someone has found a way to beat this, please share!!!!

That is just not true. I recommend that you get familiar with release notes, before you start spreading rumors.

It's not a rumor my friend, i am familiar with the release notes; i am also familar with problems it causes in falkreath when trying to purchase your land, as well as hearthfire adoptions with lucia. Patch notes don't ever tell you what they muck up, it's our job to find out what works best for us.

I have went to this link a 1000 times prior to your post, these steps aren't fixing the problem for me. In addition they seem to have only patched the issue with the assisting quest not being removed from your journal after completing it.

My issue is not being able to get that quest.

It feels like a load order is a completely new subject for you. None of these bugs are in effect in properly patched and ordered game.

I can see that you are determined to consider your assumptions as facts. I don't think that I can help you in any way.

Don't think it should be on the list of completed quests as its just a spoken quest by someone rather than a named quest like 'The Golden Claw' or 'The Boy Who Cried Wolf' etc. It was just a put this horn on the shrine dialogue.

Anyway, I think the solution is that you may have a quest in Solitude or a quest that involves Solitude ongoing and you need to complete the quest to get her to speak. Could be the daedric quest Wabberjack or that lighthouse quest with that lizard dude or the Bards College quest or something like that that is stopping the dialogue from appearing. It will be unrelated to the Thane quest but involve Solitude in some way.

I had the same trouble with Winterhold, couldn't get people to speak when I knew they should have dialogue and it was to do with an unrelated quest that involved Winterhold in some way, and once I completed it everyone started having dialogue.

threads like these...you might want to figure out why you need to rely on console commands so much to get you through this game.
2,5 million people have downloaded the Unoffical skyrim patch, so I have a feeling it does not break more than it fixes, I think your machine is probably weak and cant handle skyrim

I knew that you couldn't help me from the min you posted, when a person puts a list of things that he's done to solve his situation in the description. Then in response you post a link with the exact same steps taken it's probably going to yield the same results :D. Then you spend half your time yapping about the unoffical patch, when i said "Same Deal" which means nothing has changed i'm still not getting the quest.

P.S. do you remember when this was said? "removed all scripts and disabled all plugins to test the dialogue check." I'm also using loot.

That does not indicate that you are aware about the load order. You would be surprised how many peoples have plenty of mods and hours in their game, before realising they have to be in the correct order.

My way of working with problems starts from the beginning. Your profile is private, so I am unable to see any hours you have in Skyrim, or similar games. Thus, I will start from the very beginning and not from the middle.

I guided you that page so see possible missing prerequisites (Tending Flames) and for last quest stage (20). You did not comment either one for me.

If you are done with your act, type GetStage <QuestID> to see, if quest was actually already started, but something is blocking it from being properly recorder

I have to listen to a guy jyzz off about how i'm being so unfair to the unoffical patch. Rather then helping come up with somthing legit to help not just me but everyone with this f'ing 4 year old random problem.
