Dawnstar House (SOLVED)
Normally I don't like to cheat but I really don't want to have to wait until I am level 22 in order to kill the giant. I don't care about being Thane I just want to build my house. I have killed several giants before (I was level 10 or so) so I know I can kill one.

So is there a consol command to force the quest to start? (I don't want to break the game) or do I need to wait until I have reaced level 22 to get the quest?

Already helped the 3 people as well as the nightmare quest

Edit: Downloaded the "Timing is everything mod" which allowed my to change the level requirment for the quest to a lower level.

Ok so I tried useing console commands to set the quest to a stage but it won't let me since I don't have the quest. I really don't want to wait til I am level 22 to get a house on a mountain side, and having to wait til your level 22 to fight a giant? Hello by the time I am level 22 I will have already defeated the devourer of worlds so I think I can handle something simple as a giant.

I have fought them on my lakeview manor and defeated them with no troubles.

Any one have a mod that will allow a level 11 char bypass or start the Dawnstars Giant Quest so that I can unlock the ability to purchase a plot of land there? I really don't want to have to find ways to level up to 22 just to buy a house.

Do you have to be level 22 to get the quest or just that high to be able to kill the giant? I usually go for the Falkreath house and havnt done the Dawnstar in ages.

If it is just killing the giants you can use the kill command. Open the console type kill and then click on the giant and hit enter. Instant death.

I do this somtime for my 2 handed characters so I can get the Daedric 2 handed hammer from the Deadric quest near riften.

It seems (according to online posts) that in order to recieve the quest you need to be level 22. If it was just killing the giant I would simply run around in circles useing a ranged attack (Takes forever but has worked in the past).

Normally I have always gone for the Falkreath house as it is easy to obtain, however this time around I wanted to mix things up and thought this house location would be better. But I will just keep doing quests until I hit that level. Just was hopeing for a short cut.

That works if you have easy smithing mod, they patched it so the smithing increase is based on value to slow down the gains.

Dont make Iron daggers it is waste of time. And Iron ingots.
Dont suggest that any more Nina.

Question to the OP, do you have the Unoffical Patches installed?
Have you got the housecarl?
You should get the option to buy the land after lvl 7 or 9. Heartfire dont start until that.

That is wrong, you can get a hearthfire house at any level. I had a level 5 mage that became Thane of Morthal and was able to purchase land.

You don't get the lettter from the couriter that introduces you to the Hearthfire houses until level 8 but you can get them way before that.

According to the UESP, you have to be level 22 to get that quest if Skald is still the jarl. However, if the Civil War questline is completed in the Empire's favor, Brina Merilis becomes the new jarl, and she doesn't require that quest.

Interesting Idea, I may have to do that, although I was hopeing to stay neutural.

Not sure if I do or not, I know I did a ton of things to get it to play the first time (ie double cursor fix and such) I want to say I did but it has been a while since I bought the game and installed it. How would I check to see if they are installed?

P.S. I have no additional mods installed, (I had a few for a while but they started causeing problems with the game and I took them off)
Uncle64 Jun 18, 2015 @ 10:36pm
Thanks Valden21 to clear that out. I was unsure.

Ok. Did you take them off and using the same save?
If so you can have problem there, it is not safe to remove plugins in one game.

If you dont have the Patches I strongly suggest you install them. Before you do anything else.
And revert to one save there you did have them.

There are some fixes for the double mouse and stuff. But they are at Nexus, more stable then Workshop.

If you dont use any tool like MO/NMM/Wrye Bash.
You can always check your steam launcer.
You should see if you have the patches installed in the tab that have the name "data files"
You should see them there.

And I strongly suggest you to install one tool like MO/NMM/Wrye Bash and LOOT.

There is a mod called "Timing is Everything" that I use in my current playthrough. I used it to delay the DLCs, but you can also change the level requirements for the Dawnstar giant quest. I changed mine down to 16.

Thank you so much! I got the mod and now I have my land.
