Belethor Died... What can I do?
Other than cheating him back to life... His store was fairly useful for selling junk to. Noone has taken it over yet, but it's only been about 5 or 6 in-game days, and I only JUST noticed he was dead.

I recently turned werewolf, and while i didn't kill anyone in-town, there were some vampires attacking at the time, and he may have been killed by them (some of the battle-borns died).

I found his coffin in the Halls of The Dead, but that doesn't help me unload all this crap...

There are several mods to protect against vampire attacks, one has everyone but guards run indoors when vampires or dragons attack. Another makes all npcs essential. You may have to go back to a previous save to before he was killed.

Firstly wiki his id , then bring up console and type prid " belathor's id" wihtout the speech marks, then hit enter
The type moveto player hit enter, if his corpse shows on the ground near you type resurrect 1 then enter,
If after all that doesn't work GOOGLE
Only use player.placeatme " belethor's id" 1 will only make a copy, and sometimes the copy may not have sale option, because they lost faction somewhere ....

When I go to a new town and I know ones have a certain quest later, or I may need them at some point, I Always click on them and type seteeesntial id 1

Mourn him, tell tales and sing song of his deeds, raise a glass of mead to him at the Bannered Mare. Then pick up his body if it's still there and throw it over the city wall.

Belethor was killed by vampires during his nightly walk (I got an inheritance letter and 100 gold) and Ysolda showed up and took over the shop 2 (in game) days later.
If you have the Unofficial Patch installed, she has the dialogue to be a merchant so you can buy and sell just like you could with Belethor.

When do Vampires begin spawning around the world killing people like that? So far I have only found them inside caves and tombs.

With Dawnguard installed, I want to say level 9.

According to the wiki you can get vamp attacks in settlements at level 20, with Dawnguard DLC level 8.

Edit: My bad, level 20 attacks are just differant but still require DG.

You need to have the Dawnguard DLC installed. Once a member of the Dawnguard talks to you or you hear about the vampire hunters from a NPC conversation, random vampire attacks occur in various locations starting when you hit level 8. As you get to higher levels you will run across any number of vampire encounters and members of the Dawnguard doing various things.

Belethor was killed somehow (dragon, vampire, some random attack?.... i don't remember) on one play-through. a few levels and quests later, i made it back to Whiterun, went to Belethors General Goods to unload some loot. That Sigurd dude who was his assistant was now behind the counter as a merchant.
it was very far into the game----probably completed main questline already... have about 10 minor mods plus unofficial patches and all DLC. i don't think Sigurd taking over as merchant there was due to any mods i have. it just takes quite a few in-game days for it to occur, whether Ysolda or Sigurd
