FNIS error when running through Vortex
I just re-downloaded Skyrim SE for the first time in forever. Used to mod like hell and I'm very familiar with FNIS, as all modders should be. However, now whenever I run FNIS for Users through the Vortex dashboard tool, FNIS throws me a weird error before actually running.

I don't have a SSE directory on my D:\ drive, and there's nothing there or anywhere that I can find that is telling FNIS to even look there. The tool shortcut is to C:\ where the GenerateFNIS_for_Users.exe actually is. Any tips on how I can clear this up? It's also redirected (not seen in the paste above), which is frustrating. I might uninstall SSE altogether and reinstall it and see if it fixes it.

Try Nemesis That works the same way as FNIS you will get messages that says you need FNIS but you can ignore that

Installing Skyrim and mod managers like Vortex/MO2 in Program Files (x86) directory can result in errors due to Windows' administrative privileges kicking in and being potential cause for issues.

You better off moving your entire Steam directory somewhere safer on your disk, so there wont be any problems caused by Windows and it's permissions.

Or use Nemesis like I mentioned

Ralof is correct and I would follow his advice; the FNIS modpage explicitly warns against installing the tool in C:\Programs(x86), which your readout seems to indicate is the case. A number of other tools won't run properly from in there as well. See https://support.steampowered.com/kb_article.php?ref=7418-YUBN-8129&l= for the procedure.

Also, at a minimum it looks as if something went wrong with your installation if it is looking for your game at the wrong filepath.

Last, which version of Skyrim are you trying to mod? This is the oldrim forum and you own oldrim, but your FNIS readout looks like you are modding Special Edition. If you are modding Special Edition, you may want to re-post in the SE forums to avoid confusion.

What if he genuinely "needs" the creature component, huh?

Nah just playing but still, first we gotta solve the man's problem before yelling at him to use Nemesis instead. Windows and it's funky permissions are quite a problem to a man's Skyrim modding effort.

I didn't yell at anybody I was just making a suggestion. Also I don't have any creature component and I use Nemesis and my game works fine so not needed and I said "or he can use it" not "Hey you have to use Nemesis"

Have some sense of humor, wont you? I understand you're making a suggestion but come on. I didn't mean to offend you, I was only joking.

I didn't notice that until after I posted that :) so no harm done

Just wondering, since you posted in the Skyrim forum and not the SSE forum - which version of FNIS did you download?
Moon Moon Aug 17, 2021 @ 12:27am
I had that error before and it never was a problem as long as it registered the animatons correctly.

Sorry for the supremely delayed response. Life ♥♥♥♥ happened. Anyway, I was trying to mod SSE, so this was indeed posted in the wrong place. I got the issue fixed by uninstalling the game completely and reinstalling it and starting from scratch. Thanks for all the feedback, and I'm gonna look into nemesis because I like learning about new stuff.
