Is there a mod to highlight spells/items you don't already have?
Topic says it all. I don't mind doing the work of maintaining a list, but it does slow you down quite a bit to have to check it.

Not as such, I don't think, but MoreHUD on the Nexus shows you a lot more info when you mouseover something, e.g. if you look at a book you've already read, it shows up the little 'eyeball' symbol (can't remember if this is in vanilla UI or only in SkyUI, but I think you need SkyUI for MoreHUD anyway), it also things like known alchemy properties if you look at a harvestable thing, etc.

there's a mod that adds a sign next to books you've read. Helps with not buying spellbooks you've already used :P

i saw someone on twitch last night who had some mod which allowed a skill book to glow, letting him know he hadn't read it yet. after he opened the book and got a skill increase, it stopped glowing

Do you know what it's called? Also, generally speaking... are the menu/HUD mods pretty safe as far as not messing up your games because they are not really the game itself? Really not worth taking chances at losing my progress. Only done appearance stuff so far.

Try this for books.
It works like charm, but you need Skyui and Skse.

I'm more interested in figuring out which ones I still need to buy. Books glowing in the world is kind of cheating, but I would consider that in future playthroughs for sure. And before anyone says it (lol) - even though I was complaining about the dragons, I would not cheat and reduce their frequency on my first playthough. In the future, when just having fun I probably would.

Pretty sure it's SkyUI that causes this. (At least, I have no other mods that seem like the kind that would.)

You can se what books you have read/bought at the trader. I started to use it since i ended up to have several copys of the same book. Not fun when you are low on credits.

If you use SkyUI (requires SKSE to work but totally worth the minor bit of hassle installing both) then you will get the little symbol I mentioned above next to books you have already read when you look in your inventory/a shopkeeper's inventory/chests. So long as you open every book you pick up (i.e. ones you buy, ones you are given, ones you find in chests) you will know which books you've already got (unless you sold/threw some away, of course).
