delete the game in the lstream library

hello gamers,
i bought the game when was available and installed it via steam off course..but i bought the legendary edition a few months ago and can't delete the original version to install this one..i tried to uninstall it but the game is still in the library on steam so when i put the new cd,that installs the old game and don't ask me the legendary install key,i don't have the new addons during the installation no? so my question how to do to delete the game in the library of steam?

Did you right click it in your Steam Library and delete all local files/game content?
(Do a Save Folder first to put all your saved games/mods into - on your pewta)

There's no need to delete anything. Just activate the CD key on Steam. You'll have to do it anyway.

I think they may have bought a hard copy of the (Legendary Edition ) of this game, the person does state that ( I put the new cd,that installs) so i think he/she trying to say it is a hard copy,keeping that in mind here is my take...... Games can not be deleted from the steam library as it is staem that up;oads them to you. If you delete the game using the ( delete all local files/game content ) will delete it from your hd. If you did not get the ( Legendry Edition ) through steam but bought it from your local game store or through mail order then the only thing i can suggest ( i'm not sure on this so do not take this as a work-around ) is make a seperate folder and save the content (game save files) for the game files for the steam version of the game. Then manually delete all the game saves in the steam file folder, Re-boot computer/laptop then try installing the ( Legendary ) one. As i said before i am not sure about the fix i justed mentioned as my tech knowhow is a bit limited.

yep, Teshub10 is on the good way about my problem...sorry if i didn't tell you most things..i have bought skyrim with a key that i used on steam to play,but then after that i bought the legendary edition with another activation key..so when i delete the 1er skyrim i bought i can't delete the 1er activation key to put the legendary edtion key,that delete the game on my computer but keep it in the steam library..well i don't know if your solution will works Teshub10 but will try..thanks

You don't have to delete anything. Just activate the new key on Steam.

can you tell me how to activate the new key on steam? i searched the option in menus to activate it to change the last one by this one but i found nothing.

In your Steam Client -
Top: Games > Activate a Product on Steam
Bottom: ADD A GAME > Activate a Product on Steam

Either one will allow you to enter the new key. You do not change the key. You just activate the new one.

you only had to activate the key and then steam updates your game to legendary edition.
Now you have to redownload the whole game.

Once you activate your game as described above, it will download the new content, it will not change the name in your library, so dont flip out like apparently 70% of the people in this forum when you dont see "legendary" in your games name.
