And the mage thing, I like your idea, go for it :)
(NB the family telly is me and my kid, I am ancient and don't live with my mum and stepdad.)
It's just... I had a small monitor for so so so long, when I got a nicer larger one (for around £80) It transformed my life! (sad, I know).
Ahh yeah, money is hard to come by, let alone when you have a child to rear, I understand. Regarding requiem...I've not tried it yet, also, I'm so loyal to my Khajiit; he has cured my restartitis! Usually I am a zealous restarter and perfectionist...but the Khajiiti eyes...fluffy cuteness...their friendliness and their irresistable smile :3
I'd like to restart as a mage...but I CAN'T!!! >.<
I was playing my last character for about six weeks, but I think my PC couldn't really handle Immersive Armours, as I was getting so many CTDs and not having it's the most significant difference between that mod list and the one I've been playing with for the last couple of days, and I don't think I had a single CTD. Really a shame as it's a great mod, I guess I'll be sticking with vanilla armour for now, or maybe pick one *really* nice armour mod out of the IA collection (I'm leaning light armour for my new guy.) I'm tempted to go Khajiit, but I want to play a mage and I've a feeling I really need to be an Altmer, Breton or Dunmer for that in Requiem (would help if I could read the dratted info...) I'm sort of tempted to try Inigo again, though, for a dose of Khajiit fun, although I might just keep an eye out for that nice Kharjo and hope his amulet's somewhere bandit-y rather than draugr-ous.
I know someone who Vamped hers up too, wow smexy. Khajiiti mage Vamp Kitteh....
Don't worry about the starting traits...you can level up the magicka skills etc to be adequate enough the same as any race <wink>
Normally I totally would, but the impression I get is that it makes a bit more difference in Requiem, so I don't want to completely shoot myself in the foot by playing against type! I'll probably rage quit by lunchtime tomorrow, though, and then I can go back to SkyRe and play a lovely fuzzy-tummied mage lady :D
I'm now Nord. Hey...Nord have Frost resistance...that any good? Otherwise, hmm-nyeah, High Elf it is...
Aww, Breton guys are adorable, though! Well, apart from most of them are fairly meh in the face, but they're so dinky! (I have a bit of a crush on Gopher's Richard from his Let's Plays, though.) I could go Altmer, yeah. Suspect I'll go back to playing ladies, too, I never seem to stick with dudes very long. Maybe if I can find a nice female Breton name (real-world Breton, not this French/Irish nonsense Bethesda go in for...)
My Nord was easy to name. Jorgen.
1) Everything in Requiem wants to kill you O_o at first.
2) Get a shield!!!! Seriously. Like...yesterday. Block everything. Always. Also, make sure to block heavily when you see archers. They tend to one-shot you at early levels, but you can block the arrows.
3) Armor. It's actually important now XD. Light armor or heavy armor are your choices. I really wouldn't recommend anything less then that. They both have more perks to use them with magic. Heavy armor is much more cumbersome at the start (it will drain your stamina just standing around). But it is worth it near the end.
4) Magic is weak in Requiem, at the beginning. But as you get up in levels, it becomes very strong (except against Dragons, which are just plain OP to the extreme XD).
5) You might find more success starting off with necromancy. I found raise undead to be very useful, as well as summoning minions to take the heat off you in emergencies.
edit: unlike in vanilla, you gain spells as you get magic perks. Any of the Adept/Master/ general rank perks let you pick spells to learn ^^
Hope it helps ^^ Love requiem <3
G'luck Gnewna :D
Using a 2H weapon is a great way to die >.< You'd have to basically make sure to get a power attack on everything before they touch you, to survive. I wouldn't suggest it. On the other hand, you'd probably be able to kill most low-mid level things (bandits, wolves, etc) with one or two hits. Draugrs would probably take more. (The secret to draugrs is that it takes a few hits before they start taking damage, but once they do, they're cake :D)
Oh, and if you use a shield: bigger ones are better. Blocking arrows actually requires you to have the arrow hit your shield. It takes a lot of practice (and a little luck) but it's so rewarding when you finally get to that sneaky archer who you just know is about to wet themself >:3
(Also, forgot to mention: as a mage, use the mage armor spells. They help :D)
Been playing Requiem for a long time, and never took it off >.< So let me know if you wanna know more :D
