Can I get the house and become a thane in Windhelm if I go for imperials
I want to join the legion, but I am not sure if the house and thane title in Windhelm are available if I help imperials. By the way, I have completed Blood on the Ice quest. No spoilers please.

Aside from it bugging out, you should be able to.

You should. I did that but I became a Thane and bought the house before I joined the Imperials.

How did you manage it? Sounds like you joined the Stormcloaks first, but you said you joined the imperials later. Can't that be true.

Is the only way to become a thane for Windhelm doing the war quests? That's odd :/

If you complete the quest for the Imperials, the new Jarl of Windhelm is pertty eager to give you the title. Nice guy. This is similar to the situation in Markarth, which is usually quite difficult to obtain. If you complete the quest for the Stormcloaks, the Markarth house is ridiculously easy to get from the new Jarl.

If a Dovakin existed, he is the rightful ruler of the whole friggin' Empire and should crush both those traitor factions and bring them back under their rightful rule.

The Septims were just keeping the Throne warm for one of true dragonsblood to appear. And since there's opening for Emperor, might as well take over the whole Empire. And if the Aldmeri give you any lip, show them what happens when you cross a God-killing one-man army that can control dragons (among other possible abilities).

Slipping away from topic, are we?

You can earn the title of thane of Eastmarch from any jarl holding Windhelm. This is Civil War related, and you can't proceed with the title without it.

Stormcloaks: You will have to capture Falkreath, before title is available.
Imperials: You will have to win the Windhelm to Empire, before title is available.

Once you are able to buy the player home of Windhelm, you will be able to earn the title by helping citizens of the hold - like in any other hold.

I am the dragonborn from the Wheel Of Time. I am your new ruler, bow down before me. All you pretenders to be a dragonborn are nothing but peons to me.
There, now this dicussion is about another goddess from another story. (Oh, wait a minute, it was a he. LOL)

That's the point. I helped nords in the greybeards treaty, and got rid of that forsworn conspiracy quest in Markarth. Then I got the house and thane title from the new jarl immediately without any efforts. Forsworns really disgust me, so do many nords in Windhelm. Now I will help imperials vanquish barbarian and narrow-minded nords there.
