Khajiit or Elvish (Bosmer, Dunmer or high) Assasin?
Which do you prefer and why?

Also, if you play an assasin type. Thief stone or warrior stone, and why?

Lastly, I never developed my pickpocket skills. Can anyone give minor spoilers as to the cool things you pickpocketed?

In BG2, I did play a fighter/thief once, the only unusual thing I pickpocketed was the chainmail off a bodyguards back, think he shoulda noticed that.

Bosmer always make the best assassins in my opinion because they're adept at using bows and swords. The Thief Stone should be your first choice so your stealth skills can progress faster, but you could also switch to the Shadow Stone for Invisibility. If you don't want to take pickpocket, I recommend you replace it with Illusion which I highly recommend for any stealth build. Illusion not only provides spells that can get any assassin out of a sticky situation, the Invisibility spell covered by this school can be cast freely unlike the Invisibility spell granted by the Shadow Stone, which is a power that can only be used once per in-game day.

Pfffttt. Forget those two races, Breton is where its at with their nice resistance. Khajit are always suspected, and Mer are intensely disliked.

I started with the thief stone till I got sneak leveled up nicely then switched to Warrior to develop my dagger (and for big fights, shield) skills, until I eventually made my way over to Markarth for the Lover's stone for a 15% boost to everything. Granted I spend most of my time adventuring and not running back home to renew the Well Rested or Lover's Comfort. You should be "Making hay while the sun shines." or better yet, "Looting gold while the Draugr sleeps." Your better half will thank you for it later.

As far as your pickpocket skills, if you joined the Brotherhood, they have a torture room. That is a good place to practice most skills. Just be sure not to kill them.

As far as what you can pickpocket, (there are videos on YouTube) if you want to perk for it, you can steal the weapons or even the shirt off of someone's back. And like you say, there are some things people should notice right away. Especially if its breezy and daylight.

As far as the most unusual thing I pickpocketed, was the dress off of the missus. I wanted to change the dress she wore, so I took the old one and deposited the new one. But unfortunately the next day I found out she had a spare hidden somewhere. So much for cosplay Tavern night.

Khajiit because they already have good stealth and theif stone because then sneak, lockpick, pickpocket, ETC will be easy to get.
With pickpocketing you can pickpocket jewels and stuff, nothing that awesome unless you get the perk that lets you take clothes and weapons that they have on.

Magicka Resist. It makes dealing with Pyro/Cryomancers so much easier. http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Breton

Granted the Invisibility makes life much easier. Think about that the next time you Lover's Comfort. I rarely use invisibility in the wild since Lydia in platemail is sworn to attract all the attention and I get to backstab stuff as they run by. Maxed sneak with perks is handy.

While I have managed to kill 2 or 4 at a time with backstab before the rest of the room catches on, I've yet to use Frenzy to see if I can do the whole room while they are otherwise occupied.

I rather like the trope of the high born assassin, so I'd pick High Elf, and give them a noble background.

I made a Khajiit assassin for my first assassiny playthrough, and loved it. His specialties included stealing everything people wore (HA! I'd be happy to fight you now that you're naked, Ebony Warrior!).

For the stone, I went with Lord's for the most time. The extra armor is kinda crap, but the magic resist helps a bit.

Also, if you play a Khajiit assassin, the Dark Brotherhood has some GREAT dialogue geared towards the cats. In particular the quest where you infiltrate <redacted> to feed the <redacted>. You know what I'm talking about. =P

I don't know what that is. Could you please elaborate on it?
