Female Character vs Male Characters
I made this post out of curiosity. I am very interested to know if you made a male or female character, and what gender are you? Better yet, did you enjoy a character that was the opposite gender MORE than you did a character that is your gender?

Weird question, I know, but I personally have always enjoyed playing female characters. Male characters are boring, imo.

i've made at LEAST one of each race, literally made dozens of characters as I have alt ♥♥♥♥♥ syndrome. Females generally end up mages or assassin type characters, while males I build as tanks and warriors.

Which did you enjoy more, however? A female or male character.

I guess females, as i'll play further with them in games. Any game where outfits/armor are a big deal and I'll be looking at the rear end of a character alot, has gotta be a female. I just can't look at dudes that long.
I am a Female. play them mostly, but also enjoy being a male in game, it is fun also.
When I play a RPG for the first time, I usually play first as a female because I am also one. But later on when I have progressed in the game, I start a new character that's usually a male. But I mostly continue with my first character, so I guess I enjoy playing female charaters more. It's kinda weird though since I usually like male main characters more, but not in RPG.

I'm male and I play male. Big dumb sword swingin Nord. OK, not too dumb. I tried a female once and could not handle being called mama and lass and when Balimond noticed my Amulet of Mara I freaked a little bit, purely from an immersion point of view.

I'm male, 5 male avatars so far. Other games I'm about half and half. One of my favorites was a female broadsword regeneration scrapper from City of Heroes. As much mindless running from unknown location to unknown location as there can be in the early game its a wonder I haven't made a female character just for something to ogle on the way.
All of the characters I create are female because I was actually inspired by Murulo on YouTube who did impressive playthroughs of three Oblivion mods: Verona House Bloodlines, Dungeons of Ivellon, and Glenvar Castle. Most of his videos were made without commentary and are several years old, but they are still very good; he also made some videos with commentary before making a channel solely for Team Fortress 2 videos where he became known as NoArmsIrene. All of the Oblivion characters he made that I know of are female, though he did play as a male Orc while doing a brief let's play of Skyrim along with some other videos of the game. If nobody has seen his videos, I recommend you look him up on YouTube and watch them, espcially the three Oblivion playthroughs I mentioned above.
I have tried 3 times to play a male character because I am female and I thought I would enjoy looking at a male character (I play almost exclusivly in third person). However, it just never felt right.

First, I went all out with an Orc: Didn't sound right.
Then a big blonde Nord: I made him too beefy.
Then an Imperial: Too hairy.

Maybe I'll go back to a male at some point but for now I love my strong warrior women kicking dragon butt.

No, it's controlled by me, but if I roleplay then they have their own ideas about what they want to do, achieve etc, same as if I were writing a story or something. Also, you know, even on the basic level, they're pretty obviously not ME, because I can't make fire shoot out of my hand or even wield a sword competently.

i always assumed Skyrim was rpg action o.o

It is. However, that mage I am playing in Skyrim is not more me than the mage that I am playing in D&D. I am controlling the character, but that character is not acting like I would. That's the whole thing about roleplay; your character is not you, and does things that you would not do.
Only finally playing a female now. It's kind of frustrating as in all games. I try to make her attractive but things always bother me so I have to keep changing them like hair.

Originally played a male Nord because the game is all about badass vikings kinda..
Vikings? Forget that. They are Highlanders! There can be only one!
I've done both. I like playing female characters and black men because it's different; almost every AAA game that doesn't involve character creation has a white male protagonist. Half-Life, Bioshock, Deus Ex, Dishonored, Thief, the list goes on. Generally, my men are warriors and paladins while my women are mages and archers. I tend not to play assassins at all.

From a purely aesthetic point of view, vanilla Skyrim's women are generally better looking than the men (with a few exceptions), not just because I'm a straight male, but because of the way they're made. With mods, though, there are some damn fine looking guys too, so thank God for that.

Well I started playing this game with characters same gender as me, but when I looked into the modding community (ie. nexus) I started using a female character more because they usually have more people working on armor textures and animations.
Well being male myself, I tend to gravitate more to creating male characters. I feel like playing as a male character allows me to immerse myself in the character more easily.

I have created numerous female characters however, and when I get into them, they can be just as enjoyable to play as my male characters.

Really, I guess it comes down to the lore and role play story I come up with that decides how much I enjoy playing as a specific character.
I agree with you Starsurfer. I am running males as well. That way the marriage doesn't feel so weird, although some of them do things that I would never do, such as slapping the more annoying quoting law enforcement and telling them, "I'm your Thane, gotta love me!"

Now if someone would mod a flute with a hidden blade for my assassin avatar, I would use my Barding mod more often. :)

That last bit would be awesome! I tried role playing as a bard several times, but there just wasn't any point. I couldn't play any instruments, and the Bard's College quests are so few in number, I'm finished before I can even get into it. Now if I could play instruments (with a few sneaky cloak and dagger elements for good measure), then RPing as a bard who moonlights as an assassin for the Dark Brotherhood would make sense ;)
