Alik'r prisoner quest won't work.
Ok, so I talked to the guard, gave her the 100 gold, but she DIDN'T walk over to the cell, say she lost her keys and get around to it or whatever (I did check online before starting this thread, by the way), so now the prisoner is stuck in the state between inititally talking to him and paying the guard. Therefore, when I go to talk to him, all he says is "You pay for my release, then we'll talk." (or something along those lines) even though I HAVE payed the guard.
Help please!

Does he not have an option for 'I've paid it, now talk' or something like that? Far as I remember that's all perfectly normal, he doesn't realise you've paid, you tell him you did, and he tells you. If he's lacking that option then there's probably a bug, you may need to reload to an earlier save and then work back to that point.

Yeah, that option isn't there. I'll probably just reload. Thanks.

Are you able to talk to him and he just keeps repeating the same phrase (like when you press E to talk to a guard and they cycle through the various 'guard dialogue' lines)? Or can you not reach him to talk (sometimes they back away from the bars so you can't). Might be worth saving and reloading in that cell and/or going back into the main part of Dragonsreach and then back into the dungeon and try again, just in case that resets him.

I can actually go into a conversation with him, but there is only one line of dialogue that I can say, which leads to the one line he says back (stated in my orriginal comment).

Right, I wasn't sure from your original post because, like I say, I'm pretty sure when you return to him it's normal for him to say 'pay for my release' again, and then it *should* let you say 'yeah, I have, talk' or something. Hopefully reloading will work, then. Good luck!

The order wsa wrong, you talk to the prisoner first, he asks for yoy to pay his fine, you do, the guard goes to get his keys, never comes back but now when you talk to the prisoner, and tell that his fine is paid, he updates the map so the hideout is shown. Use a previous save, should work.

Yeah, I did, it worked. And it was in that order, it just bugged out when it got to the part where I talk to the guard. i paid, but the game thought I hadn't.

Do you have the unofficial patch installed?

Have you done what was mentioned above? Speak to the prisoner? I never wait until he is released.

You could also just go to Swindlers Den and pick up the quest there.

If anyone else still has this problem and the reload option like for me was a lot of lost time, i just kept mashing the interact key and it suddenly fixed itself.. worth a shot.
