The best wife is personal preference, whoever you like the look of best, they all give you gold and food when asked. If you want a wife who is ALSO a follower the Aela is probably the best choice there.
Just note if Aerin is still alive he will continue to follower her, even into your house.
Also you have to go find her sword, otherwise it's just steel.
Yeah your wife will cheat on you with aerin.
I know Ysolda is about the only way to get a whole lot of khajiit to attend the wedding, which is nice when you play a khajiit who unfortunately cant marry any other khajiit (without modding/console). The extra gold is nice to. Otherwise i tend to go the RP route with marriage which often sees me marrying a companion (the faction) because i'm also either a werewolf or vampire most the time, one monster can understand another right? Aela is pretty decent, shes even an archery trainer, though she rarely seems to use it when I move her into Lakeview. Instead I just give my kids overpowered swords and let the immortal ankle biters loose on whatever is dumb enough to show up.
