Regeneration of plants and ore veins
Can't seem to understand the regeneration cycle of plants and ore veins in the skyrim world. Some parts like Lakeview Manor near Falkreath and Riverwood don't seem to regenerate for ages and ages whilist the bit from Whiterun to Solitude seems to regenerate plants, ore veins and everything else constantly. Does anyone know what triggers a regeneration or why some parts don't regenerate for like months and some a few days.

Usually, whatever the number of days for respawn is (mostly ten or thirty, IIRC) gets reset every time you visit the area. So, for example if you wanted to check whether a mine had re-spawned its ore veins, you should save before going in and reload if they haven't 'grown back' yet. If you're visiting somewhere on a very frequent basis (such as your home) you probably won't see anything growing back, which is sort of a shame, really. (I'm not sure why there would be some places growing things back very quickly, do you actually take that route often, or is it just that whenever you do, it's been the required number of days?)

I contantly visit my home in Lakeview and go through Riverwood so that probably explains that but I also go from Whiterun to Solitude a hell of a lot too and that is always regenerating, in fact nearly everytime i've walked that way the plants and ore veins are always 'in bloom' yet go back through Whiterun or Riverwood and its barren. There is also ore mines that I cleared out of all the ore and never been back for ages and they don't seem to regenerate at all. Must be some parts are a bit glitchy.

But it sounds right about the visiting an area and it resets back to 0 and if you constantly visit that area then you don't see any regeneration going on. Will have to stay away from home more often :o(

Or maybe you could view the abundance of ingredients from Whiterun to Solitude (a good glitch for once!) as making up for the lack of things growing near home? I *think* the greenhouse and garden ingredients should grow back more frequently, by the way - something like every three days, from memory, although that might easily have been a glitch, too...

Yeah the gardens and greenhouses are great for regeneration and you get 3 x the amount with every plant that grows. I've also got the green thumb perk so I get double plants when I go out gathering ingredients. Annoying though that you've got to travel to far off places to gather rather than round your home as nothing ever seems to grow round Lakeview or Riverwood.

The respawn time is a pain sometimes but you can balance it out with mods like Harvest Overhaul and Complete Crafting Overhaul Redone. CCO allows you to modify the number of drops per vein, number of swings it takes, and how many ore you gain from each drop. Harvest Overhaul sets the harvesting of ingredients from both plants and animals to a more realistic value. I know that was a bit irrelevant but I think it's worth checking out the two mods.

Things generally respawn if you stay away from them for long enough but should you find them mysteriously disappearing on subsequent visits I suggest you take a look at this[www.nexusmods.com]:
See, since the 1.3 patch there has been a bug in the Skyrim engine that it can't 'remember' that plants, mushrooms, nests, and some salmon have respawned, after you reload a save. So you might go to a place again, see that everything is as it should be (i.e. has respawned), then if you save and reload... poof! it's gone. You have to wait for the cell to reset again.
