I think warriors have it too easy. Imagine if they actually had to use stamina, not just for the occasional power attack, but for EVERY attack. Then they would be complaining that the game sucks and warriors are too underpowered.
Its freaking ridiculous, the amount of love this game gives heavy armor melee guys.
Jeez dude, don't you know - If that elven sword isn't *better* than the steal one in every way then there's no fun in the game after the beginning. After all, isn't this game all about the combat and loots?
Sneak is the best.
Be patient, perhaps you are trying to do too much with your magic pool at once? My current mage hybrid has yet to put any points into mana during leveling. For the first at least 15-20 levels, I was spamming novice destruction spells. With destruction reduction equipment and firing in short bursts, novice destruction can get most jobs done. I'm at level 27 now with my shield mage and with the augmented perks, smart perk selection, and cost reduction equipment, I can spam the apprentice spells, which is plenty of damage for most enemies in the game. I'm only now playing with the idea of flame cloak first then firebolt, I've only stuck to one school other than restoration to get faster mana regen and respite. Use staves, if you run out of mana. Train, there is nothing wrong with training. By Ysmir! We all make enough money in the game to spare a few coin for training. :)
Mages can wear heavy armor. Mine does. Like you, I'm simple too. Invested all my levels into health and stamina. My build is like a tank, all heavy armor, shields, and destruction spells. No alchemy, no enchanting, just smithing to improve equipment and make arrows and stuff for the Hearthfire home.
Or you could go warrior/mage hybrid if you want, like a death knight or a paladin depending on which schools you focus on.
I get tired of running around swinging a weapon like a lunatic after awhile, full warrior just gets boring after awhile.
Going full mage can be interesting at times, but you HAVE to get your enchanting maxxed to get the full mage experience. Frankly though... Skyrim's default magic skills and abilities are rather dull compared to spell crafting from Morrowind. Having said that however, there are some good magic mods for Skyrim that add fun and interesting spells while not being entirely overpowered.
For pure fun though, I always go for the sneaky thief or assassin. The game turns into Batman: Arkham Asylum after awhile. You take a guy out in front of his buddies and vanish back into the darkness while listening to the idiots call out and watch them look for you, laughing to yourself all the while. Then once they calm down or seperate a little bit, you pick the rest off one by one. You have to make your own fun at times to break up the monotony, sneak and other rogue based skills offer lots of interesting ways to do that.
Thanks for all yoru suggestions
and to prevent sword levling instead i became a fist fighter with heavy skills in addition to the gloves plus damage from that guy from the ratway
On the X-box, I prefer the melee type characters. Orc warrior, 2h, heavy armor with a Fast Heal. Max smithing and enchanting. By the time I reached level 35, I was pretty much invincible. Didn't get smithing and enchanting maxed till level 43.
Yes, I am playing this way with a khajiit. Shield + spell for most occasions. On the rare occasion where I run out of mana or the target is resistent to magic, I use Shield and fist. Shield and fist is how I taught Orchendor a lesson. Khajiit + fists of steel isn't bad when you're in a pinch. I'm not one-punching anything, but I do some damage. I'm not doing enchanting with this build, so the Gloves are of no real use to me.
Glad the OP found a solution that worked. Archer is fun.
