windhelm quest glitch

i am unable to do the murder quest, stewart keeps saying something happen, and i am unable to talk with lady about murders....is there a fix for this?

I am also having difficulty with the murder quest. However, for me my difficulty is that I can't search the crime scene.

Do you have the unofficial patches?

This quest has some serious issues even with the patches.

The best way to do this quest is in this order.

Talk to the guard to start the quest.
Talk to Jorleif for permission to help.
Talk to the guard at the murder scene, and then to Helgird in the Hall of the dead.
Follow the Bloodtrail to Hjerim.
Talk to a guard about Hjerim and get the key from Tova Shattershield.
Enter Hjerim and investigate. Make sure you grab both Butcher Journals, one pamphlet of Beware the Butcher, and the Amulet.

This is where the quest becomes problematic if not done a specific way.

Talk to a guard about the butcher. Then talk to Calixto and sell him the amulet.

Then talk to Viola Giordano about the Butcher. You must have a pamphlet in your inventory.

At this point do not talk to Jorleif as the quest suggests or you will have problems. Instead talk to Wuunferth the Unliving and he will tell you to keep watch in the Stone Quarters at night.

Go to the market area by the Blacksmith immediately. Once there save your game and wait 1 game hour at a time until you get a quest update.

Follow the killer to Hjerim and kill him.

Then go talk to Jorleif.
