Riverwood Trader - Lucan Valerius Won't Trade

So I am rather far along in the game (at least time wise - lvl 54 just did the A Blade in the Dark mission for an idea)

Well, for the longest time I've not been able to talk to Lucan. There are no dialogue options, I just hit E and he just spews canned lines at me. I can't get him to trade - and I need him to trade desperately (I have a LOT of items that are worth more than 4,000 Septims that the Thieves Guild people give me.

I can't find anything online about this issue (All I can find are how to get him to have 12k Septims but that does me no good if he wont talk to me.

I've tried Disable and Enable in the console commands - nothing.

Does anyone know how to fix this issue, or of another vendor that has about the same amount of money that he would. Or if I'm desperate a mod that adds another vendor somewhere with a largest amount of money if no one knows how to fix this issue.

im always just running around and randomly selling crap but if they arent where their suppose to be then the options wont come up, usually when this happens i just go somewhere else and sell stuff then i eventually make it back and can sell stuff to who i want to sell it to, but its usually their in the wrong area and i dont have time to wait because that doesnt auto move them, it just makes them continue on thier path till they get back to the sell point

I dont get what you mean. When I go talk to him hes standing in his shop behind the counter. He wont talk to me (no dialogue tree). Nothing you have said makes any sense as it pertains to my issue.

If you have finished all the thieves guild quests you can go town to town selling to fences

reload as you enter, because if hes behind the counter the options should show up, ive never had a prob where someone was in their " all option " possition, either on xbox or pc and on multiple playthroughs and numerous hrs, do you have mods, thats one thing i dont have along with any patches i dont have either, i just have strait from factory game

Good lord, did you even read my post.

I said I have items worth more than the Thieves guild Fences (who have a max of 4k). And the Riverwood Trader is supposed to have up to 12k gold if you invest in him.

I have mods, but this problem is from before I installed my mods. I will try the reloading a save while in his shop. (though I'm sure I've done this in the past trying to diagnose the problem) but I'll give it another shot.

perhaps one of the mods you have is conflicting with that character for some odd reason, usually a modder doing something that he dont realize is going to conflict but it randomly does in which he may or may not have any control over

edit: if he added a draggon claw for some unknown reason or used the same, this could possibly dissable that character because the same claw is used differently than it is suppose to be used so by adding another/dissabling it then it would mess with the npc associated with it

But, as I said, this problem started BEFORE I even modded the game. So...still at a loss.

Is there anyone who is not drunk that can help me with this issue. Everyone just keeps telling me to go to people who don't have enough gold to buy the things I need to sell.

This is almost like Yahoo Answers up in here.

its 3ish am here, give it another few hrs and others will be on

but usually i can sell everything i get when im maxed out on weight mainly because i buy like lockpicks, soul gems n stuff like that, ive never invested in anyone either i felt it was just a complete waste of a point and by the time i could get that point i was always around the 100k mark so the extra 500 gold was useless to me

Wolfe, I have never had this problem with Lucan. I'm sure you have probably tried this, but do you have saves both prior to entering and inside the shop? I would first try to reload these saves if you have them. You may have to try several times. Have you done any other quests that involved him, such as the Golden Claw or stolen anything from him? As glitchy as this game is it is conceivable that this may be causing some sort of conflict, I can't say for sure.

Have you invested in any of the shops or blacksmiths in any of the towns? Where are you on the Speech perk tree? With no mods these are what will determine how much gold the shop owners have and wether you can sell stolen items at least that is the way my game has been working. To the best of my knowledge Lucan never has 12k gold on hand. You may have to travel to several cities/towns in order to sell off everything.

Errm... On my Xbox edition of Skyrim I once noticed something wierd. REALLY wierd. The pub in river woord had vanished!!!!!

EDIT: I just thought of one other thing you might try, leave the area for one day(game time of course) then return and try again.

If you invest in him (I have the invest perk) the game is bugged to where it applies it 20 times and he has 12k gold (unless they "fixed" him, but last I heard they hadn't) And this bug has been going on for over a year in game time at least.

And my problem is that some of my items are worth like 9k and no vendor has 9k - at least not one that I've found. So my problem isnt finding places to sell junk, its finding places to sell hugely expensive items.
