Buy both

I like the Pale home best, because it is the most peacefull of them all. I did also get Morthal's house, for fishery and alchemy ingredients. It is just an cabin now and probably stays that way.

Screw it, i'll buy land from motherbucking Falkreath
Skyrimnut Feb 3, 2014 @ 12:09pm
The home at the Pale is actually technically closer to Whiterun than it is to Dawnstar. I liked both, for me it was a matter of the fishery being more useful for alchemists, so I used the Hjaalmarch home more. The Falkreath home is a deathtrap. More crap happens in that home than, I swear, in any other. Safest of the three my a**!

Get all three, and build all three. Make sure each one has different wings.

Lakeview (Falkreath) is the best overall, use it for your family home. (bedroom wing)

I guess some people like homes near necromancers, bandits, spiders, wolves, mudcrabs, giants, and dragons! I have been attacked by all that crap in Falkreath. Lol, must have been a bug, but I was scarred for life. I've not built there since, unless I know I'm going to be absolutely alone as the view is extremely pretty. I put my kids in Solitude now.

@skyrimnut, it is scripted for the Hearthfires homes to be attacked

I know they're scripted and was attacked in all three. But the Falkreath home went on overdrive and I suspect it was a bug. It was more funny than anything else, cause my kids kept saying how wonderful and safe it was, hubby Marcurio was all like "hello dear, I love how safe this place is" and then BOOM! DRAGON! BOOM! GIANT! BOOM! BANDITS! Right on cue. By then I was high level and it was constant Ancient Dragons, over and over again, especially after fast travel. The other two only got occasional attacks.

If you fast travel, then Morthal location is the best. But if you don't it's a pain, you have to swim the bay to Solitude and trudge through swamp to Morthal.

Lakeview Manor is closest to a town (but no carriage), while Heljarchan Manor is closest to a city (without having to swim).

It happens to all manor houses to be attacked wolves, giants, bandits etc, having 3 manor houses spreads the attacks out. There are mods that add more to them and guards etc.

Pale only offers bandit raids and occasional giants. My caravanners camp around the home and usually deal with pests before my wife needs to get angry, or bother me to tan their hides.

It was actually quite hillarious sight, when I climbed out of Alchemist tower. I saw giant standing in the middle of the yard. Next thing I saw was how Faendal and Roggi were using it as archery dummy, while Benor, Lydia and Gregor were beating the poor thing senseless. It actually tried to run away, but didn't survive past the smelter.

It would be nice to see if dragon would do better, but I have yet to see one around Heljarchen Hall.

Yes, the Lakeview home in my case, was most certainly bugged as it had just a ridiculous amount of attacks compared to the other two. I remember the Ancient Dragon talking too.

I got a dragon in Heljarchen Hall. That was pretty cool. I had dragons appear in all three, but they were by far, the most common in Lakeview.

Lol, makes me wanna get the houses again, though, just for the S**** & Giggles. But I'll probably go for Windstad, as I liked the Housecarl the best.

Unless we have the same bug. I've been attacked by all that and one time I was attacked by a hagraven right as I walked out my front door.
