Elder Scrolls Online Cost
From what I have been able to find the ESO will cost $240 the first year and $180 a year after that ($60 for the game and $15 a month).

I hope there is enough content to make it worth it.

Regards

Dan

Well, it's $14.80 a month or something, close but not quite 15. :D

Eh, why bother. It already shows signs of being a pay to win game

MWO for a quick reference, Go look it up. Biggest cash grab game ever

What are you talking about?

The Elder Scrolls Online is primarily using a subscription model to pay for content.

The only microtransactions Zenimax has talked about so far are for "fun stuff and services".
"We'll have a shop to buy kind of fun stuff, and services too, like name changes and things like that. But it's not part of the core game," he said. "Anything in the core game is included in the subscription price."

I assume you're talking about MechWarrior Online.

If so, why are you comparing a free to play game with a subscription game?

Eh, my point still stands.

How? Your point seems to be based upon vapor not fact.

No, no it doesn't. A cash shop does not equal P2W.

Yeah, that's a pretty standard AAA subscription model price. The $15/mo is probably a month to month price though - the cost tends to go down if you buy a subscription and the longer the subscription, the lower the monthly price (typically $10 for a year subscription).

No, there won't be enough content to really justify this - no modding means that you'll max out your level within 3 months (unless you're some sort of otaku, in which case - 3 days) and you'll run the same 3 end-game dungeons over and over for another 9.

I *couldd* be wrong though - maybe they'll learn from GW2 and have minor updates every couple of weeks (they'll be getting enough money for it) instead of major updates every couple of years.

IF any one has or owns the ESO CE, then your blinded by the pay to win.
And my vapor smells of greenbacks. Lovely

What specific things can you buy in-game to pay to win?

You meant the Imperial Edition, not Collector's Edition, right? I can't seem to find anything about an ESO Collector's Edition.

But, the Imperial Edition comes with

Imperial Race: Play as an Imperial in any alliances. The extra tenth race in ESO is an exclusive to those who’ve purchase the Imperial Edition. While ZeniMax has stressed that the exclusive race has no advantages vs other races, you will of course gain unique bonuses, crafting style, and gear> (You’ll be able to craft/transform any gears into Imperial style)
Imperial White Horse: ZeniMax has clarified that this in-game mount will have the same stats as any other horses in ESO, so no advantages here.
Rings of Mara: Receive the blessing of Mara, the goddess of Love, who will bless your union with a partner of your choice (aka friend). You’ll gain significant experience buffs when playing together with your partner (or friend). This bonus seems to make sense if everyone and their mom will be playing with their girlfriend/boyfriend but maybe a bit more weird if just with a good friend?
Mudcrab Vanity Pet: Funny enough the Loremaster spend all three seconds describing this vanity pet in the unboxing video, these are the mudcrabs we all love to stomp on in Oblivion and Skyrim. You’ll get one to follow you around.

So.... you get some rings which give an experience bonus so long as you're playing near the character who has the other ring.

That counts as "pay to win" to you?

Or, do you really want to play as Imperial that much? I admit that limiting the races you can play by which version of the game you buy seems unusual, but it's not "pay to win" imo.

60 bucks to buy the game, yet 30 days later when you decide the ESO is not worth 15 bucks per month and you choose not to pay the sub fees, do you get your 60.00 dollars or do the greedy bastards keep your 60 bucks- which i think will happen. I can't handle the fact that i just spent 60 bucks to play a game that sucks for 30 days and now i'm out 60 bucks after 30 days
akasexacutioner Feb 3, 2014 @ 12:11pm
you get 2 people in the same house using the rings then its a massive advantage twards everyone else, youll be lvling 2 times faster than anyone mainly because youll have a constant companion with you at all times, same goes for friends that always play games together

How does this differ from any other new game at release?

you can get most your money back from new games by trading them in which you wont be able to do with eso

Not on PC you can't... not normally (rare exceptions like greenmangaming).
