i searched nexus and workshop and found nothing useful.

A Quality World Map with Roads has an option during install to install the clear version which removes the clouds but not the thick clouds that cover the areas of the map outside of Skyrim.

That's three seperate downloads, with a bunch of stuff i don't want. and one of them is a complicated looking manual download. i was hoping for something simpler that this monkey could do by bashing my banana on the keyboard(i'm not skilled at computerins).

What are you talking about? Its two downloads tops - download the map you want and then download the clear-map add-on. They just get copy-pasted into the /Data folder.

to get the clear skies, you need the one with roads, to get the one with roads you need Ethatron's High Quality 3D Map mod, which has a crap ton of stuff to stick in a bunch of places, with rather vague instuction. i am borderline computer illiterate and not comfortable doing things like that on my own.

but it all seems to be moot. the script i added to the .ini page seems to work off and on. sometimes when i look at the map, the clouds are there, sometimes they're not. i can live with it.
