How do you guys see at night or in caves with light effects mods?
These mods are amazing - when it is sunny or daytime and you are outside. But at night or indoors, I cannot see anything. In some areas, it's literally pitch black screen.

So how do you guys deal with it? I installed a mod that lets you purchase a ring that gives a permanent Magelight effect. This works in most cases, but in some caves with no light sources at all (whether via small openings or internal lanterns or torches), it's still a struggle.

So I am wondering if you guys have alternative mods; I've seen a mod with wearable lanterns, but that looks ridiculous and totally un-immersive. I've also seen a mod with dweemer goggles that gives you some half a dozen effects, but that's way over-powered and gamey.

Any lore-friendly, moderate solutions?

I recommend these mods:

Wearable Lanterns: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/17416/?

Lanterns of Skyrim: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/18916/?

If using ELFX:
Lanterns of Skyrim ELFX Patch: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/63869/?

and either

Brighter Torches with Bigger (mage light) Radius: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/32156/?

or

Immersive Torch: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/67967/?

I liked the lighting color of Immersive Torch, but the author increased the burn duration to 24 hours, so fair warning.

I edited Wearable Lanterns using TESEdit5 to combine the effects of Brighter Torches Bigger Radius with the lighting of Immersive torch for my torch and lanterns.

Spells have such a short duration though.

I think wearable lanterns just don't look good nor realistic. I do have Lanterns of Skyrim, but that doesn't help cave crawling.

Better torches is indeed a possible solution. In particular, I love the 24 hour option. Which of those two mods give better coverage in terms of area illuminated? Also, does Brighter Torches mod extend torch duration as well?

By the way, since I registered on Nexus today, I am like a drug addict with a stolen cocaine cache. Jesus, there's so much stuff there that's not on Steam! ;)

Immersive Torch adds better coverage.

I don't recall if there was a duration change for Brighter Torches.

With Immersive Torch, you will not get the increased coverage for Mage Light spells as you do from Brighter Torches.

The wearable lanterns can also be carried, I think. Obviously that then takes up a hand slot. Maybe look for a nightvision spell mod?

You can become a vamp and use its nightvision ability.

That is about as Immersive as it gets.

Ok, I will go with that then.

I use the candlelight spell. I would also try out other lighting mods as even in the darkest cave Its not pitch black for me.
