Why do NPC's think I'm sick?
As the title says, random NPC's that are around me will make a comment about me looking sick. I've never understood this.

Check your active effects under magic menu. They usually make such comments when you have contracted an illness.

You might be ill, just go to a shrine to heal yourself.

You have contracted vampirism, or you have some other sickness.

That's impossible. I have never encountered a vampire in this playthrough as of yet. My character is only level 11.

The only negative effect I have right now is Rockjoint.

There you go. Rockjoint is a sickness. Go to a shrine and it'll go away.

I have noticed that if it is a potions master they are trying to sell you curing potions. I as well keep incountering the same issue talking to potion vendors before encountering a vampire.

Ya I was going to say that... if an Alchemy store owner is telling you that you look sick it's probably a lie.. chick in Whiterun got me a couple of times before I realized it, drinking potions needlessly without checking status
I always just keep a few Cure Disease potions on hand and rarely bother checking active effects. If someone starts the whole "You're not looking very good" thing, I just take one and move on. Unless it's one of the Alchemists known for trying to sell you something as one of the other posters mentioned. But you get to where you know their dialogue and when they're full of sh*t.

Note: The alchemist in Whiterun says you you look like you might have a case of a particular illness as part of her regular sales spiel. If she says something more generic about no illness in particular, you really are sick.
