I just got Dawnbreaker - what do I do with this garbage?
I am so disappointed - this is a Daedric artifact? That's the best Meridia can do for me? Perhaps she's not all that powerful after all. Maybe I should go to her plane and give her a little spanking!

In all seriousness, what do I do with this? Can this be enchanted over? Just vendor this trash? I was expecting Daedric artifacts and other top tier items would at least be able to compete with the best crafted items. LOL, was I wrong...

"Thank you for slaying the necromancer who defiled my sacred temple, Dragonborn. In reward for your efforts, I give you my prize artifact: DAWNBREAKER!"

"Wow! What an awesome sword!"

"Sword?"

Hmmm, is there one that does this for all top-end dropped gear? I don't want to have separate installs for every dropped gear I want to keep! ;)

Also, do item mods change the gear you already obtained? Or do they activate only upon a re-play?

I am not aware of any mods that alter all artifacts. I usually use the CK or TESEdit5 to make my own changes using ideas from other mods or my own so I only use one esp.

The mod will change the stats when you install it. You do not need to start over. It is probably safer to not have the item equipped though.

Ah, ok. Thanks. I did find "Stronger Daedric Artifacts," and it seems well-endorsed?

After I installed the mod, Dawnbreaker was rated 85 damage with 52 fire damage.

If you want to impress Vilja, Sofia, Arissa and some others. You can always gift Dawnbreaker to them. It works.

LOL, really? ;)

No LOL. Try it, I have given Dawnbreaker to Amelee from 3dnpc all the times since I installed that mod.
Think of it like this. You dont like it, but perhaps some other do want it.

I use the dupe glitch to make a second Dawnbreaker so I can give one to my follower.

On my first playthrough I specialized in one-handed weapons and once I got smithing up to where I could upgrade it I thought it was a fine sword. My main weapon was a one-handed ebony sword (also upgraded), and I remember the damage difference wasn't too bad - significant enough that I never used Dawnbreaker as my main weapon, but in Draugr-infested dungeons the instant turn/kill explosion after you kill one really helps, so I always kept it around for those special occasions.

I found the best solution for not just Meridia's stick, but all artifacts: Better Artifacts mod. This mod seems to me superior to other artifact enhancement mods, because its author keeps the stat boosts within a reason so that the artifacts are on par with - not vastly superior to - crafted items. So there is a choice between equally viable items, and that undercuts neither adventurer types and crafter types.

Lampros -- the stats for the weapons affected by Better Artifacts seem pretty low. My main character is Level 66, and I play with mods for increased NPC AI and greatly increased fighting ability (and fights). Even with the very strong weapons I have either improved or created myself (and setting my character at the master or legendary levels), I'm still dying reasonably often -- mostly from being overwhelmed by 6 or 7 very strong opponents at the same time. I don't like/use followers, just very strong conjured characters.

Wow, your mod(s) must be hard. Can you list them all?

As for Better Artifacts, I like it mainly because it gives you a choice between crafted and uniques, where either could work. Currently, uniques are under-powered severely, and I want a mod that fixes this; but, on the same token, I don't want stuff that is a lot more powerful than crafted, because crafted gear is already ridiculously over-powered. Anyways, I am actually looking at other mods that slightly increase power from Better Artifacts as well. Improved Daedric Artifacts v. 2.1 looks like another good candidate.
