Weapon damage display glitch?
I've noticed a weird glitch recently that has to do with the weapon display panel on the bottom right of SkyUI. Basically, the overall damage value displayed changes constantly without any rhyme or reason. Keep in mind that I've struck out every ready explanation, such as disease or other game affects. For instance, I could literally walk 5 steps and get a different damage value display while doing nothing in Whiterun; moreover, I'd log out and then re-start the game, and I'd get a different display. I get a different display after I talk to someone. I do not believe this glitch affects performance, as I seem to do the same damage on mobs. It seems a purely display glitch.

Let me give you a series of real values I obtained, and what I was doing when these values were obtained. When I first logged into the game this afternoon in Whiterun, the value was 874/339 for both my Dragon swords (uber enchanted) for my level 38 dual wielder. When I fast traveled to a giant camp, I noticed it had changed to 874/291, without me doing anything but travel. So without engaging the giants, I returned to White Run, and I got 686/291. WTF? So I re-logged and got 874/291 again, the 2nd number recorded.

So I am completely stumped. And this appears to be not an infrequent glitch from what I've read online - though it appears to happen the most with something called SkyRE.

Anyone with any ideas? Once again, I don't think this affects combat performance, but it is irritating - and who knows ultimately if it does not affect combat performance after all?

One more thing: Throughout my weapon damage value on the weapon itself stayed constant at 437. It's only the bottom right number that changed.

It's too bad that this game isn't more transparent with numbers: I can't even mouse over the numbers and get an explanation of how the numbers are computed.

diseases , enchants , buffs/debuffs , current weapon skill level
they all affect your weapon damage and that damage is displayed in inventory aswell

I know, but please see my example. Zero chance any of those were the cause. I mean, I walked 5 steps forward and got a different number.

Let me try.

Yes, it does. I am wondering if it is related to things loading up slowly if I go to a new area? So the later values might be right one, but it took the game a bit longer to process it all?

hmmmm does it happen with currently equipped wepaons or ones that you just have lingering in your inventory? try re-equipping your weapons and see if value gets back to normal

I don't know what the "normal" values are supposed to be, since the display numbers change all the time, and I don't know how damage values are computed in the first place! ;)

But if I re-equip sometimes I see the same number as before un-equipping; other times different numbers. I am just stumped.

But again, it doesn't seem to affect performance. I am still 1-shotting the 500-plus HPs giant, even at times where it says something like 700/-400.

How is damage values computed, do you know?

It's obviously the base weapon damage + but then what?

its actualy pretty weird it never displays the base value of weapons it just displays the base dmg+ and that + is everything your enchantments , skill level , buffs debuffs like i said ... but the weird part is what i noticed sometimes while doing standing power attacks with perks like Dual Savagery .. when i open inventory during a power attack i see my weapon values increasing aswell.

So the glitch happens to you, too? Except mine happens even when I am not fighting and have no reason to expect buff from anyone either.

Sadly that proves nothing.

- you can't disable a mod by simply unticking the esp. There might be still loose scripts affecting your game.

- you can uninstall the mod (and pray that workshop gets the uninstall right), but even then, there're still scripts in your save file, and they wont disappear by uninstalling a mod.

You can uninstall the mod and run a save game cleaner like http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/52363/?, it *usually* works.
