Best enchants for melees?
What are they?

I am sure I have not encountered them all, but here are the ones that seem juicy upon first glance:

*the one that increases 1H damage by quite a bit
*Absorb Health or something like it (I assume this is like vampiric leeching?)
*soul trap

I also do not understand how the Perk Soul Siphon.

In the description it says: "Death blows to creatures, but not people, trap 5% of the victim's soul, recharging the weapon."

Does this mean I don't ever have to recharge my weapon? (Incidentally, I've never recharged my weapon, so I don't even know what the process consists of!)

Relatedly, is it even worth crafting Daedric stuff, since Dragon stuff is so close, and the material somewhat easier to get? (I have oodles of Dragon materials even in my mid-30s, and I am sure I will get a lot more.)

One more question: Can you put an enchantment on a weapon that comes with an enchantment?
Stoob Aug 5, 2015 @ 9:46am
No, you can't re-enchant an already enchanted item. :)

Yea, it fills the weapon directly with that perk. Some have had trouble re-charging the weapon before now so: highlight the weapon in your inventory, press 'T' (default?), then select the gem you want to use to re-charge the weapon with.

Oh, and yea, there is weapon enchants to absorb health/stamina/magicka. Once you've got your enchanting to 100 and chosen the top perk, you can add two enchants, so having soul trap and another preferred enchant (fire, absorb, whatever) on one weapon is handy - less switching out of weapons but the trade off being it uses a lot more soul charge like that.

Edit:
On the original question, 'best enchants for melee', I'm usually a great user of Stamina/HP and of course relative weapon enchant on the accessories/gloves/helmet. Maybe something defensive on the boots like flame resistance, depending if it's worth using sneak at that point (not much point trying to sneak at low level with heavy armour).

A weapon enchanted with Fiery Soul Trap and Chaos Damage would be pretty cool.

That way you get Fire Damage + Soul Trap as one enchantment and Chaos damage as the second.

Chaos Damage has a 50% chance of having Fire, Frost, and Shock processing, so all 3 could activate at the same time.

So your attacks could potentially see up to 5 effects processing.

Fiery Soul Trap is obtained from the Steel Battleaxe of Fiery Souls, located in Ironbind Barrow far NE of Whiterun towards Alftand.

Chaos Damage can be obtained from the Champion's Cudgel which can be found in Solstheim from the quest March of the Dead. Just exit Raven Rock from the exit near the docks, and down the road. Help the general and then activate the next quest.

There are other weapons that have chaos damage, but the Champion Cudgel is guaranteed at any level.

On most weapons you can't. I believe there are a few weapons like Ghostblade that you can place enchantments on.

I think that depending on what you like to play as you should use that enchantment. Like if you really like magic you should probabaly use a magicka absorb or stamina since magic is kinda ranged or a soul trap enchantment if your into enchanting. Alsofor a melee weapon fire or shock is decent for starting a new game, because they deal reasonable damage . But whatever you need at your current level in the game I'm sure there is an enchantment for.:steamhappy:

Ah, ok. Thanks for both explanations!

Thanks; I will look for those weapons.

By the way, how does Elemental Fury shout factor in the equation? I just read some folks claim that not enchanting your weapons and just using that shout is even better?

Fire to increase damage and provide dot. Absorb stamina for more power attacks. And Frost damage so other melee can't power attack you.

Hmmm, I didn't even know the additional effects for elemental attacks. Looking it up, Frost seems better than Fire, since Fire just adds more over time damage whereas Frost actually adds an effect (slow)?

Edit: This is because I have survivability issues now, and I tend to kite a lot.

Also, on Wiki I saw that there is a Paralyze enchant. How effective does this stick? It sounds powerful in theory, but if resistance is common then not worth it?
Hare+Guu! Aug 5, 2015 @ 10:59am
Anything on fire takes more damage.

Paralyze is nice, but has extremely limited amount of uses. Only get it if you have high level enchants and a buttload of soul gems.
