How can i ''repair'' dark brotherhood questline

Hello. So, i did the quest Innocence Lost and a courier came to me with a message. But i decided not to progress further in dark bortherhood questline cause i was too weak. So many days have past and i think i accidently lost my message from dark brotherhood.And now nothing happens when i sleep in bed. Is there a command or something to give this letter back to my inventory? Cause it seems that u cant active this questline without this letter

you must sleep in your own bed
buy a house in Whiterun if you dont have and sleep there

DB quest always starts when you sleep in Breezehome (at least for me)

Starts for me if I sleep in any bed like at an inn.

This quest should proceed without letter, just by sleeping in a bed. Letter itself should be optional.

I understood that Chrupek! has not been able to proceed forward from Innocence Lost. You only get those jobs after joining in to Dark Brotherhood.

I did say quest not jobs. its all questline, the jobs are mostly side quests save for the main story quest of the DB.

Here is another way to trip it for the STARTING DB questline!

speak with Aventus Aretino in Windhelm. (how we normaly start it)
Or As I found out for random fun, before you head to Windhelm you can go straight to Riften & to Honorhall Orphange & kill Grelod the Kind to see a different reaction from Aventus Aretino.

upon completing Innocence Lost, wait for a courier to deliver a message from the Dark Brotherhood (if after waiting for a while and the courier doesn't show, just fast travel or take a carriage to Falkreath which is the closest city to the sanctuary. He should come then). Then go to sleep in any bed for any amount of time. You will feel well rested when you awake (unless you have the blood of the werewolf, which would mean that you do not get any sort of rest), but you’ll not be where you last laid yourself to rest. A hooded woman known as Astrid tells you that she is from the Dark Brotherhood and that you owe a debt to them.To repay it, you must simply kill one of the three captives in the shack (to kill one is optional you can kill all 3 if you want.)
At this point, she extends an invitation to join the secret society of assassins, gives you the key to the shack, and urges you to enter the Dark Brotherhood Sanctuary near Falkreath. Walk up to the creepy-looking door and respond with “Silence, my brother” to be welcomed in.


The reason I ask what quest is the OP in is they say its been a little while since they did it, so It would be nice to know what quest in the quest line their skyrim says they are on.

You still need to complete "With Friends Like These..." after "Innocence Lost" before you can enter in to sanctuary and get those quests. Entrance is not available before "With Friends Like These..." is completed.

I am doing the DB quest line as we speak, Frinds like these is the 2nd quest in the questline of DB.
like I said, if they are truely stuck Ilja we can go find the console commands to go jump it on yes? I gave a list of quests so they can check their quest log to find out where they are and maybe go from there, I can't beleive we are even aruging this. all we need to know is what their questlog says and its easy to move forward from there.

I am not arguing with you. I pointed out that Chrupek! couldn't have possible get the quest you mentioned, if he is unable to get transported in to shack.

But I did made a mistake up there as well. I wrote "sanctuary", instead of shack.

Quest stages and commands were included with the page I linked.

he/she did also say they left the quest for a while because they were "not strong enough", hence why we need to know could they have done stage one and started stage 2, messed up or no it will be in the quest log somewhere.

You sure you didn't kill Astrid instead? You get a different quest, Destroy the Dark Brotherhood.

Well yea, my quest log shows "Innocence Lost" as a completed quest, and it says i got a one quest for dark brotherhood completed. But i cant progress further. I even bought a house in whiterun and slept in my own bed, still nothing happened

Could it be that i spent too much time without sleeping in my bed? Cause i did Innocence Lost when i was like 20 lvl, now im 29

So, the console command in the page I linked above did not help? That is strange.

I have heard about bug like this only once. The game was without Unofficial Patches, so quest got stuck, but that console command moved it further after a sleep.

Hmm... I am not sure what else to recommend right now. Jumping over quests with console would be problematic and risk bugging your game even further.

I have only had this quest line bug out once. For what ever reason I was never kidnapped by the DB either. Unfortunatly I had to use the unlock console command on the door at the hut, opened the door and voila!!! I don't like using the console but......
