HELP! Magic Menu CTD

Recently, I've been uninstalling/updating mods.

Earlier today, I switched from RealVision ENB to TAZ Visual ENB.

A few days ago, I also went from using SKSE 1.7.2 to SKSE 1.7.3. XPMSE 2.5 was also updated to XPMSE 3.

Today was the first time running the game since all the changes. When I was testing the game, it CTD when I tried to open the Magic Menu. I did it a few more times after to confirm the bug.

I reinstalled as many mods as I could, switched back to RealVision, returing to SKSE 1.7.2(I don't know if it actually worked. I began getting an error), and returned to a previous save, but the problem continues.

I read that sleeping for an in-game hour is a solution, but only if there are excessive active buffs.

I also read that corrupt plug-ins can cause this problem, even if the plug-in is not related to magic. The person's SKSE and SkyUI "glitched" and he had to reinstall Skyrim to fix this problem.

I have yet to try either method.

I run a heavily modded Skyrim with nearly 200 mods.

Could this be related to skeleton update?

How can I find out if SKSE is glitching out?
How can I uninstall SKSE to reinstall properly?

Are there other ways that this bug can be solved?
How can I find corrupted plug-ins with NMM or LOOT?
Can/How do I uninstall-reinstall Skyrim without deactivating all of my mods?

If you've got over 200 mods, it's likely something mod-related.

Run LOOT (download it here[loot.github.io], unzip it - you'll need an unzipper, e.g. WinRAR -, and run the main LOOT application), let it load (it might take a while), then in the top-right, click "Sort Plugins" (looks like this[i.imgur.com]), then wait, then click Apply. Scroll down through the mod list below it and look for anything red. Red means it's bad!

If you don't get any errors from there, TES5Edit might work better, but I'm not too sure how to use it, sorry.
As always, validate your game cache (Library --> Skyrim --> Properties) in case that helps.

Did you use the psb command or do you have any mods that automatically give you access to all spells?

If you want to downgrade SKSE you would need to remove all of the files from it and then reinstall it. You can downgrade just by copying old files over the top of newer ones. Also if you have SkyUI you need 1.7.3 of SKSE so that might have been the warning as well. 1.7.3 is very stable so I suggest you just stay with that

I've run LOOT all day, but it comes up blank. I'm fairly new to TES5Edit, so I'm not too confident at it, and might end up causing more problems. I've never tried to validate the game cache, so I might try that.

I don't use any mods/commands to give myself all the spells. Even when I do need spells, I do it with the player.additem command for spell books.

Since I use the SKSE installer, I'll try to uninstall SKSE by deleting the files manually, and running the 1.7.3 installer again.

I do use the SkyUI 4.1, so I'll update that, too.

Everything Climate of Tamriel related has will be deactivated with the reinstallation of TAZ Visual Overhaul ENB since the weather mods and the ENB are incompatible.

Sorry, got a bit busy finishing up some of my mesh work then.

From your load order I can't see any mods that I know have problematic spells attached but I also dont recognise half your load order.
The only thing I can suggest is maybe you have too many spells and the game is crashing because you cant load them all, in which case reverting to an earlier save would not crash the game, OR that one spell in particular is corrupt or has a corrupt mesh assossiated with the inventory art. This is a particular problem with SkyUI because the mod is more efficent then the original game so when the original game might only crash when you scroll over a particular item, SkyUi just crashes right away.

Most of the spells I have were with me from about the time I started modding/playing.

So far, I've tried reinstalling old mods; loading old save; sleeping in-game; updating SKSE, SkyUI, and XPMSE; and validating the game files. The problem is still there.

I have a few more ideas, though. I guess I just have to keep trying.

It could be script related try this http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/52363/? BUT although i have used this mod sucsessfully meny times there was one occasion when it deleated some scripts that i needed - scripts tied to the deadly dragons mod - so make a backup of your script file before you use this just in case.

I've been trying to fix this problem all day.

I tried:
-Running LOOT
-Reinstalling everything
-Validating my game
-Updating older mods (SKSE & SkyUI)
-Looking around in TES5Edit
-Save Game Script Cleaner
-SkyProc Patcher

Everything comes up as good, but the problem is still ocurring.

I'm pretty sure that it isn't directly save related because it also occurs with my oldest save.

I'm assuming that the AP Skyrim.esm file is the one messing up my game.

There are only a few mods that I use that give spells/effects.
-AP Skyrim
-Ultimate Follower Overhaul
-SexLab Apropos
-SexLab MatchMaker

Out of those four, AP Skyrim.esm was the only one that I disabled (accidentally by misclick).

I think I had a spell from that mod equipped, but even if I reinstall, it doesn't put it back in my hand.

But, even if this mod is disabled, the CTD happens.

Can anyone suggest anything else I can try to fix this?

I still need help with this problem.

I really want to avoid having to reinstall Skyrim and my 200-ish mods.

I've tried restoring my computer to a few days ago in hope that it would revert any changes (it did not).

Now, I'm sure that the problem isn't related directly to my save game. I took a clean, no-console-command save from the Nexus to see if the problem occurred. It did.

These are added to everything that I've tried and failed.

I'm not sure where else to look.


Does anyone know what else could be the cause of this problem?
