Stuck on dragon logo.

Hey,
So when I load up Skyrim (through SKSE or Steam), the Bethesda logo and sound plays, then the dragon logo (Imperial?) appears. After a few moments, smoke starts rising from the bottom of the screen - all good so far... but the "New Game/Continue/Load" menu doesn't appear. It's stuck on the dragon symbol and smoke until I reset my laptop.
My sound settings are at 24 bit/48kHz, so that's not it. I've got a few mods, but they don't seem to be the problem either...
Can anyone advise?

Try to change graphicks settings. I my case that was enough to start the game. I hope for that will help.

Sounds like a form of crashing called freezing. However the cause is probably mod related just like CTD.

I've tried it on windowed mode and regular, different aspect ratios and resolutions - nothing's worked so far. It does this without mods as well, oddly enough - I got it to work once a few weeks ago, but I can't remember how.

good idea will be try off mods, Then start game change setting as i say up and quit game launch modes and try again to start game. Good luck!

Ah! Alright, I've deactivated my mods (http://pastebin.com/aWiq83Jx full mod list) and tweaked the graphics settings - and it's working now. I'll reactivate them and see if it stays the same.

Have you tried using the Clear Skies shout to see if the buttons are hiding under the smoke?

I haven't unlocked Clear Skies yet, unfortunately... think I can console command it in and find out?
