Altmer or Dunmer Vampire
I cant decide i love the look of both and also this isnt based on stats or anything its just i love the look of both races and the lore and everyhting so coming to make my character is proving difficult

For me, dunmer is the better choice, because their fire resistance counteracts the vampire's weakness to fire.

While true, a vampire can be really OP, depending on which mods you use and gear. Early game will be more difficult but you can wait to vamp out when you have fire resistant gear. Just depends what kind of challenge you want and if you want to be more authentically vampire-ish-ish.

Oh and Dragon priests can be a bit of peach to deal with until later game.

If roleplaying I would go non-dunmer, just to have a vampire weakness to fire -- I would also check out some of the vampire mods, like Better Vampires to control daylight damage. But to each their own. :)

P.S. I played a dunmer vampire on Adept and it became boring.

Yh ive got a few vampire mods but why would you say non - dunmer is there something specificly in lore against dunmer vampires cos there seem to be plenty in castle volkihar

Sorry, I meant vampire lore as opposed to Skyrim lore. If RPing as a vampire, I think not being OP in all aspects (e,g, having racial fire resistance) can be important...plus see the last line above on added about adept play with Dunmer.

Added: If you didn't have a problem with it then go with what you like.

Well, one good thing, they already look like vampires so it's easier to justify no-one knowing. I prefer a more drastic change in appearance though.

I love playing as a Vamp. The earlier ingame, the better. I've semi-recently found a mod that both nerfs Vamp and boosts them. You'd have to read the mod description to understand. Be advised that if you use this mod, it effects ALL Vampires. Even Vampire Lord. And NPCs as well as you.

I'll take a look at this too. I only used Better Vampires and was prone to make the game too easy with it. Sounds good, thanks for the heads up.
