Crashing to desktop. All mods turned off. Why?
Can't fix the problem if I don't know what's causing it so let's start there.

I currently cannot launch a new game without crashing to desktop. All mods are disabled.

Try deleting .ini files in your skyrim folder and mydocuments/my games/ skyrim folders. The game will recreate those files next time you launch it.

If you have all mods uninstalled (read as uninstalled, not unchecked) then broken .ini files is the only cause I can think of.

I did say uninstalled. I meant unchecked. I've -properly- uninstalled all of my mods now and the crash to desktop problem went away. I'm currently troubleshooting to discover which mod is being ♥♥♥♥♥.

Oh well. My mistake! /thread for now.

I'm having the same problem. I have all mods uninstalled, I've cleared my .ini, but the only thing that I can do is a start a fresh game. Every other game I try to load crashes me to desktop.

TRY running LOOT its probs a load order issues. also if you do have SKSE installed, mods or no you will still need to run it from your SKSE launcher. it might also be worth useing the svae game cleaning tool. here are some useful links:

LOOT:https://loot.github.io/https://loot.github.io/ (it will sort out your load order issues)

SKSE:http://skse.silverlock.org/ (if you were useing it it might need an update)

Save game script cleaner: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/52363/? (cleans your save games of all scripts from uninstalled mods)

TEST5EDIT: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/25859/? (will tell you what is wrong with your mods and plugins)

SkyUI: http://www.nexusmods.com/skyrim/mods/3863/? (use a V4 as the new V5 is still having teething problems) (script extender needed for most mods)
