Pure Mage no enchanting
Hi guys going to start a pure mage build. Will go with Khajit. I will not be enchanting but will use enchanted armours and amulets you get at the end of quest (no deadric quest though). What are the best ingame armour for pure mage. And I want all of the Magic tree. Will use conjuration for Demora Lords. Will not use soul gems. And how much stat do I put in my magicka and health so that I won't have trouble with Ebony warrior (if possible want to take it solo). And thanks guys. Oh and this character does not see everything as complete black and white. He will not enchant and use soul gems and will not buy enchanted gears and found gears but will use enchanted gears given at the end of quest. Thanks again guys.

Ingame armour? Well if you're lucky, you may find some heavy/light armour with magic related enchantments. Also you might want to look into the Illusion tree of magic because of just how hilariously powerful it is IF you know what you're doing.

My general mage stat ratio is

Magicka:Health:Stamina

2:1:0

and getting to the Ebony Warrior will take awhile so keep that in mind. Also any mods?

Well when I think of pure mage, I imagine a mage that doesn't use armor either, which would put you up the path of Alteration.

Yikes!! You like living dangerously. For your stats, as mentioned above. 2 magica for every health. Never put anything in stamina. There is a mod that I highly recommend for Vanilla like spell playthrough. Awakened Magica. {LINK REMOVED}

What this mod does is: The more Magica you have, the more powerful your spells become. Up to 2x power. But it also lowers magica cost for spells by school's perks. Novice perk lowers spell cost by 2.5%. Apprentice lowers cost by 5%. Up to Master which lowers cost of school spells by 12.5%. So level 50 char with 700 magica and appropriate perks could be casting double strength spells at 37.5% cost. If using master robes, then that school's spells would be cast at 15.5% cost. Almost free. But the strength of spells has to do with a combo of player level and amount of magica available. As you use spells, they get progressively weaker. Because you're using mana to cast, that lowers the amount you have.

The reason for this recommendation is, Skyrim seriously nerfs spell power. By level 50 any warrior or thief is doing way more dps than any mage could hope to match. Not to mention that any school's Master level spells are insanely high mana to cast. Okay, master level spells also take forever to charge. This mod does nothing about that, but it does do something about the cost of casting it. And with the boost in strength, it brings the dps back in line with high level warriors and thieves.

Ha! As a generally melee/missile based player, half the crap I get offered is magic related, "Oooh, great. A Dragonbone helmet. With minor restore. Whoop-de-effing-doo.". ^^

Not that I really care as a mod/custom armour using kind of person.

That's because if you're a melee character, you have to do things the MANLY WAY. Make your weapons and armour, MANLY WAY at the Skyforge with your shirt off under a thunderstorm. A master makes his own tools after all.

Thank you drakknight. Yeah I like it when the enemies does about the same damage as me. I have the game set on expert so that I don't have to grind them like on Master or Legendary (this is mmporg stuff). I want to kill them fairly easily and let them kill me fairly easily too. I have seen my charater being skewer by 2 handers and a being killed by archers. Its brings realism to a fantasy game. Installing the Awakened Magicka. Your link didn't work but I got it off google anyway. Thank you for the mod mate.

If you want longer lasting armor spells, or stronger destruction damage by mastering the other magic schools, Invested Magic is a great mod. Probably won't work with Awakened Magicka though.

Get secret of arcana to whoop the ebony warrior's ass. Dual cast spam incinerate/thunderbolt/ice spear till he drops. Make sure to use a fortify destruction potion, elemental potency perks, shalidor's insight scroll and ahzidal/dukaan/zahkrisoos
