Glitch with the Companions questline?
I have gotten to the part in the Companions questline where the Silver Hand attack Jorrvaskr and Kodlak dies. I went inside and Vilkas talked to me about avenging Kodlak, and it said that he replaced my follower. My follower went home, but the dialog didn't close automatically. I pressed ESC and Vilkas walked out the door and I couldn't find him again. I didn't get the new quest I was supposed to get, and Vilkas is obviously not following me. I eventually found him again in Jorrvaskr just walking around, and when I talk to him the only choices are "Can you train me in two-handed weapons" and "What does it mean to be a Companion". Everyone else is still standing over the bodies just as they were when I first approached Jorrvaskr after the attack. Aela is saying "Make them bleed!" out front, and the other guy is saying something similar. I'm most certain this is a bug, what can I do?

Only one I can think of that would affect it is a multiple followers mod. I would try to disable it and try again but I don't have a save that I can go back to. Is there some kind of console command that can start the quest or something?

There is one bug, if you transform into a werewolf and eat the body of Kodlak, your companion follower (Aela when I done the quest) will not goto his body and do the required dialog needed to complete the quest.
If you have an old save before you done the quest, try reverting to the save.

Yes.

setstage <quest ID> <stage #>

I'm not sure where you are in the quest line, the quests can be found here: http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Companions

Find which quest and stage. Use the command to advance it to the next stage.

It's a good idea to always make a new separate save before using commands.

Looks like it's supposed to be the Purity of Revenge quest. I have the ID for it, but would I just use 1 for the stage number? Or 0? And will this get Vilkas to follow me?

Quest Stages are on the botom (10, 20, 200)

I'm not going to speculate all the things that can happen when using commands. Hopefully setting it to the next stage then traveling to a new area will set things right. But this is Skyrim so who knows. That's why always make a separate save.

I can just tell you this is what I had to do to make it work.

The page on the top also lists Bugs and fixes.

Excellent, I typed it in, the quest started, and Vilkas immediately started following me. Thanks for the help!
