I'm on the quest where you are trying to find the Aetherium Forge. I've run into a bug where after I've collected all the shards, i go to the dwemer mechanism and place the shards, BUT IT WONT PLACE ALL OF THEM!!! Pls help!

This bug is listed at http://www.uesp.net/wiki/Skyrim:Lost_to_the_Ages , unfortunately there is no work around listed. There may be a mod that can fix this, IDK.

Are you sure you have all 4 shards?

Taken from UESP.net

The shard in Raldbthar may be called 'Glowing Crystal Shard' instead of an Aetherium shard, and picking it up does not update the quest, making the quest impossible to complete with a 'missing' shard.

Pick up the shard in Dwarven Storeroom last to fix this problem.

If that doesn't work you could try dropping the Aetherium shards and pick them back up and see if it fixes the probelm.

Make sure you make a hard save before attempting any of these work arounds.

To drop the Aetherium shards, enter these commands into console. xx should be 03, but if it doesn't work you will have to find the correct numbers.

drop xx00575c 1
drop xx01433e 1
drop xx01433c 1
drop xx01433d 1

If that doesn't work try adding the shards to your inventory to see if one is glitched.

player.additem xx00575c 1
player.additem xx01433e 1
player.additem xx01433c 1
player.additem xx01433d 1

If that doesn't work try giving yourself the completed Aetherium Crest and see if it fixes the problem. xx should be 03.

player.additem xx00575b

Another thing you can try is using console to advance the quest. Try these commands in succession.

setstage DLC1LD_misc 20
setstage DLC1LD_misc 30
setstage DLC1LD_misc 40
setstage DLC1LD_misc 50

setstage DLC1LD 130
setstage DLC1LD 131
setstage DLC1LD 150
setstage DLC1LD 160
setstage DLC1LD 170

If these solutions don't work make sure to reload your hard save after each suggestion.

I got it all figured out by googling, thanks for responding though! :)

The problem was that I had all 4 shards but when I placed them, it would only place three. I would look into my inventory and I would have 2 left, which confused me. At the end I removed all of the shards, skipped ahead by setstage, then travelled to the forge with "coc dlc1bthalft01". I then progressed through the forge, added the aetherium crest through console, and made the item. Then "setstage 255" got rid of it and completed it.
