Mzulft Oculory?
[PART OF COLLEGE OF WINTERHOLD QUESTLINE, POSSIBLE SPOILERS]

I recently did a quest where I had to reach the Oculory in Mzulft, and when I got there I met who I assume was the last survivor of the Synod researchers (part of the quest lore). I helped him get the Oculory to work on its Focusing Crystal, but he said that it was not working properly after I finished the puzzle. This was probably a reference to the Eye of Magnus at the College.

After I went back, killed Ancano and the Eye of Magnus was taken away, I decided to go back to the Oculory to see if it began to work again. However, when I arrived there (after a terribly long walk), the man I helped before was gone and there was a little part of a map projected onto the wall (this may or may not have appeared when I was doing the quest, I didn't look at that wall when I was leaving the place).

So basically what I'm wondering is, what does the Oculory do after the Eye of Magnus is removed? Does it just show that bit of map on the wall? Is there any follow-up quest I can do? I find it odd that I wasn't asked to go back to see if it was fixed, and that the Synod guy just disappeared. Has anybody done this quest, and if so, do you know if there's anything else the Oculory does?

EDIT: I found the Synod guy, but he doesn't have anything to say! He just says things like "Yes? You want something from me?"
Weird that he doesn't have any remarks about the problem he had earlier..

it is working right, it did it's job to detect powerful sources of magic=it's in Winterhold, just like the map shows and it's the Eye of Magus.

it showed on the wall map when you did the quest without paying attention to what was going on.

Oh, I noticed the wall map but didn't know it was showing Winterhold for the Eye of Magnus. Thanks for the info, that's great to know!
